What do you make of the Jonathan Coachman claim that Vince McMahon is buying back WWE or the claims TKO is holding the company for Vince?
There's nothing to it and I hate even responding to this because I feel like someone is going to think that because I am acknowledging this, it may mean that there's a chance it *can be true* - because it's not true. First of all, as I wrote the day Endeavor bought WWE, the former company was gone and dead and buried. Today, there is nothing of the old company left except fan nostalgia. All the old lifers who worked there like Sue Aitchinson are gone, sadly. The old staff was gutted and only a very small amount are left. If someone was "holding" the company for Vince, why would they fire his staff and then have UFC staffers, etc. take over and integrate them into all the positions of power? If they were going to "separate" the companies and that was the plan all along, why would they have them working on UFC, PBR, etc. all at the same time and pretty much pay everyone there to do the jobs of 2-3 people at the same time? Why would they even cut the budgets and enact control over production to the point that Kevin Dunn said he was retiring? How would they split WWE, which is now run as part of several under companies, away? They can't break up the yin and yang at this point, and If someone actually put any real, logical thought or research into it, they'd know that the way Vince McMahon ran the company no longer exists and WWE, under TKO, is a far more corporate entity than it ever was historically, even when WWE was publicly traded. If the argument is that Triple H runs creative, then Vince, blah blah blah, well Paul Levesque doesn't run that area the way Vince McMahon does, does he? These are conspiracy theory claims made to get attention and clicks and internet clout, nothing more. If I want conspiracy claims, I'll go watch X-Files reruns. At least that show has aliens and The Jersey Devil!
Can you explain to why all this crap is now on the WWE YouTube channel? Bull riding, boxing, etc. I know there are people who are fans but I subscribe there for WWE content and nothing else and now I get all these notifications for this other stuff I don't care about and it's annoying.
Well, you're going to either have to get use to it or unsubscribe to the channel. TKO owns all these assets and they are going to cross-promote and push all of them on the WWE YT channel. It's never going to change. The TKO way is the way they go now.
Could you ever see TKO selling WWE to a Disney or a WBD, etc.
If the deal is right, I could see TKO selling their company one day. Why do I say that? We live in a world where George Lucas sold off Star Wars. I never really thought we'd live in a world where WWE wasn't owned by the McMahon family, but well, here we are. At the end of the day, it's all about what makes someone - a person, a corporation, etc. the most money.
Whatever happened when it was reported WWE was being bought by Saudi Arabia? I know PWInsider.com didn't report it, but why did others?
I have no idea why anyone reported it, because there was zero truth to it. There was no way a publicly-traded American company could have been sold to a foreign entity without going through U.S. government oversight, but unfortunately, that didn't stop people from claiming a deal was done. My belief is that a rumor started and a bunch of people all heard others "heard the same rumor, so it had to be true." It wasn't and it was an embarassment to watch unfold. All involved should still be apologizing for letting themselves get worked into a lather and effectively running a story that was nothing more than bad fan fiction.
Is there anyone you'd ever refuse to interview?
There seems to be a trend among some talents that charge for interviews now. They automatically get disqualified. If Terry Funk, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, etc. did interviews with me of their own accord, I'm certainly never going to pay someone to do one. That shatters the entire media-subject balance in my mind.
