LAST WOMAN STANDING MATCH ON SMACKDOWN, WHERE'S HIKUELO, U.S. TITLE MATCHES IN SAUDI ARABIA, DIY AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2025-06-26 10:00:00

Have you heard anything more about WWE using Hikuleo?

He's made a few dark match appearances on Smackdown events and is in Saudi Arabia this weekend.

I don't mean this question to be offensive, but given that there continue to be allegations that Saudi Arabia was involved in 9/11 in some way, is it not insulting to Americans to have United States title matches there?  In the case of Giulia vs. Zelina Vega especially, Vega went and presented her father's memorial with the belt after she won it from Chelsea Green, so how could it not be offensive to have her defend it there and possibly lose it there?

That is obviously a loaded question but as a lifelong New Yorker, I can absolutely see where you are coming from.  First, nothing has ever been proven (that I am aware of) about those allegations but yeah, I can absolutely see why it's unsettling looking at it from that perspective and honestly, my stomach churned when I read your question.  Vega has wrestled there in the past and even won the Queen of the Ring there.  I don't know that anyone in WWE would have even thought about the connection you made (although someone should have), but given that she paid tribute to her father when she won the U.S. Women's Title, I agree that having Vega drop the belt in Saudi would come off pretty bad when you think about that optic.  If she's going to lose the belt, that would be the worst place for it to happen.  I have to agree with you 100% there.  WWE would be best to not have U.S. title matches in that country in my opinion, not that I expect that to actually happen.

Where have DIY been?

They are on the road for Smackdown shows and went on the trip to Saudi.

Why would WWE put that Last Woman Standing match on Smackdown and not on a PLE?

You have to make your broadcast partners happy too.  They make a massive amount of revenue from their TV rights now.  The days of PPVs being the end all, be all are long gone.

Whatever happened to Velvet McIntyre?

Living in Canada and happily retired.
