How would you feel if you were CM Punk and you had to lay in the ring selling a table spot for what seemed like an hour while John Cena rambled on and on?
I wouldn’t be happy, not in the slightest. If a guy is going to cut a 10 minute promo he should at least protect the other guy by really laying him out. I don’t think Cena did that.
How weird was the Smackdown crowd cheering John Cena after his promo?
I think it’s just the new normal now in WWE. For a while heels got booed and faced got cheered. Now we are back to fans cheering for whatever they want to cheer for.
Why do you think fans are cheering for heels more now than they were?
In some cases, like Jacob Fatu or Bron Breakker, the heels are just so talented that the crowd likes them and cheers for them. I also think that it’s what happens where there are more young males in the crowd and fewer kids. Ticket prices have made it an expensive night out for families but younger males will still pay to go and they will cheer for who they want to cheer for.
Are you excited that Smackdown is going back to two hours?
Oh yeah, 100 percent. I think two hours is the sweet spot.
Do you wish the John Cena retirement tour was over?
Without a doubt, yes. But as I said above, the paying fans are often cheering for him so if they like it, that is more important than what I think.
