Spotlight Match: Joseph Zamora vs Handyman Jake Gray
No one likes Zamora but he’s beating down Gray and I’m sure his TikTok is going to be very full of smack talk from his chest mic. Gray almost wins with an arm wrench lariat but Zamora rolls him up and looks like he might have the trunks…ah booooooo!
And we’re live! We have a very interesting Open title match tonight with Bryce Donovan looks to put his drama with Brando Lee well in the rear view…and he drags out Ref Scott. He’s not waiting. This is happening NOW.
Match 1: Bryce Donovan (c) vs Brando Lee (for the Wrestling Open Championship)
Lee looks fired up for the biggest opportunity in his quick rise up the Open roster! Bryce attacks him during his intro. The fans may hate this but Bryce is beating the brakes off of Lee. Brando making his comeback and showing why he has been a thorn in Donovan’s side for months, even kicking out of the black hole slam! Bryce resorts to a cobra clutch and wraps his legs around Lee’s torso for extra leverage! Lee with the piper reversal on the hold! Huge somersault into Bryce on the floor! He manages to pick up Bryce and hit the Rolling DVD! Kick out! Bryce with a chokeslam! Lee kicks out! This is awesome! Bryce is getting unhinged as Lee refuses to stay down. Brando gets perched for the finishing stomp but Bryce hits the rope. Lee falls into the Damocles for the three. This ruled. In my opinion, this might be the most meaningful defense of his championship run so far.
Match 2: Kalvin Dumont vs Anthony Greene
Channing Thomas walks out with AG but takes one look and says you got this! The crowd starts calling DuMont “Lord Farquaad” (from Shrek. It fits). He tries to garner sympathy on a punch in the nose that Greene definitely did not do. Quick back and forth match, Dumont definitely gets a few good shots in but AG hits that pull up piledriver and that’s that. Good match.
Match 3: Tiara James vs Liviyah
The match itself went about as you would expect. Tiara is full of confidence but this is Liviyah’s house and a showstopper puts James down for the three. Tiara is mad and attacks after the bell. Davienne has been at commentary and said she was there to scout Liviyah. Well, I guess she saw what she needed…because after she chases off Tiara from the beatdown, she clotheslines Liviyah and hits a Daviennd Your Life and walks off to the boos of Cranston. Welcome back, Bad Person Davienne!
Match 4: Kylon King (w/ Dustin Waller) vs Channing Thomas
Channing is HOT at Kylon and attacks him on the entryway. It’s wild to think of the face/heel dynamics of this match vs a year ago. The match is OF COURSE very good. And just like when AG faced Dustin, Channing finally gets Kylon up for the finish and there’s Waller. He runs down from commentary and kicks Thomas before the piledriver connects. Kylon is disqualified, Anthony Greene runs down to make the save. Sure seems like we NEED to have a big tag match between Miracle Generation and StarStruck!
Match 5: Dante Drago vs TJ Crawford
Drago comes out in TJ’s gear, he wants to prove he’s a better TJ than TJ? TJ does not like this….but I did pop for Drago’s “Big Business rules…THE TRISTATE AREA!!!”. Drago just tries to mirror TJ…and TJ almost get him to do the Big Business pose. Drago throws some awful kicks. TJ shows him how it’s done. Drago with a cheap shot and a long beatdown but of course Crawford blasts him with a kick in the head. Dante dodges the Silver Bullet…he tries one of his own but ends up hurting himself?!? TJ hits the real thing and Drago is down for the three. This was pretty fun.
TJ is MAD. He SHOULD be champion…but STEVEN STETSON CAME BACK. Big Business are coming for the Ranch. But before that? TJ and Brick City are entering the Von Erich 6-man tournament that starts next week!
Match 6: The New School (Barricade Brett Mettro & Cold Rain Conway) vs The Shooter Boys (Aaron Ortiz & Anthony Vecchio)
This…might be a low key banger? The New School definitely looks UNschooled as they get schooled by the shooter boys. Rain finally serves as a distraction and Mettro faceplants Vecchio to take the momentum. Brett is taking this “Barricade” moniker to heart as he prevents Vecchio from getting to his corner. Of course, the new school is a newer tandem and a miscommunication gives Vecchio a way out of danger…Ortiz is back in hot! Rain tries to splash them to cut this off but he MISSES BY A LOT. The shooter boys hits their hart attack blockbuster for the win. I was right, I liked this a lot.
Main Event: MINT (Gal & Nick Battee) vs Bear Bronson & Bobby Orlando
Gal and Bear have a beef-off and Bronson definitely surprises his opponent at just how much strength is behind that meat. Battee gets in there and it’s clear that he is the whipping boy of this contest. Gal finally provides a distraction, Nick goes for the knee of Bronson and the heels have the advantage they’ve desperately needed. Crowd is hot for Bear to rally back but MINT is doing their damndest to isolate Bronson. Bear finally tosses them both away and gets the tag to our Mom! MINT’s games start to overwhelm Orlando but the tag gets to Bear (who has saved up all his specials for this moment). Double Stack Fallaway slam to MINT!!! Both teams trying to finish this main event contest as we cross the 15
Minute mark! Gal and Bear get to trading big meat! Gal gets shot into Bear’s arms! Bronson hits the chokebomb! Gal kicks out! Batte pulls Bobby out…Joseph Zamora slides in and smashes Bear in the back with his tripod! Gal rolls up Bear for the three! Nooooooo!
The Shooter Boys run down to even the fight as it turns into a triple team on Orlando, post match. It sure seems like we have two new teams for the Von Erich 6-man tournament! MINT & Zamora! Shooter Boys & Orlando! Let’s goooo!
