PREVIEWING TONIGHT'S TNA AGAINST ALL ODDS PPV

By Matt ten-Hoeve on 2025-06-06 09:47:00

TNA will present Against All Odds 2025 on Friday, June 6th at 10 PM Eastern from the Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona. Let’s take a look at the card that will air live on TNA+ and Triller:

*TNA World Champion Trick Williams vs. Elijah

*TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich vs. Lei Ying Lee

*Joe Hendry vs. Frankie Kazarian

*Santino Marella with Arianna Grace vs. Robert Stone with Tessa Blanchard - Winner is Officially the TNA Director of Authority

*TNA World Tag Team Champions The Nemeths vs. The Rascalz

*TNA International Champion Steve Maclin vs. Mance Warner with Steph De Lander

*Mustafa Ali vs. Jason Hotch

*The Elegance Brand vs. Xia Brookside, Myla Grace, and Harley Hudson (Countdown to Against All Odds)

Here’s how I can see things happening/what I am keeping an eye on…

The Elegance Brand vs. Xia Brookside, Myla Grace, and Harley Hudson (Countdown to Against All Odds)

This is a fun way to start off the night on the Countdown to Against All Odds. All six women work really hard and they’ll do enough to get the crowd into it. The Elegance Brand has been enjoyable and adding M to their group adds unique combinations, matchups, and strong wrestling. I expect The Elegance Brand to get the win here, but I hope that Xia Brookside, Myla Grace, and Harley Hudson are able to have their moments to shine. It’ll be interesting to see if Brookside shows any extra character depth after her Monster’s Ball Match with Rosemary.

Mustafa Ali vs. Jason Hotch

I very much enjoy watching Mustafa Ali, but he’s been in back-to-back tough storylines for me. The addiction storyline with Mike Santana ended up getting better, I’ll admit. Ali pushing Tasha Steelz around, though, is a little rough. I know that a lot of wrestling promotions today, including TNA at times, have men and women wrestling each other. I’m actually fine with that. However, TNA tends to keep them mostly clear of each other, which is why I have clutched my pearls while watching Ali shove Steelz down. We’ll see how it plays out, though. As for the Against All Odds match…what will Jason Hotch do? Ali told him that this is Hotch’s biggest match of his career. Will Hotch rise to the occasion or will Ali get him back in line? If Steelz and John Skyler get involved, who do they help? Does Order 4 continue after this?

TNA International Champion Steve Maclin vs. Mance Warner with Steph De Lander

Fresh off of defending TNA from the outsider Matt Cardona, Steve Maclin now has to defend the TNA International Championship against the hardcore phenom Mance Warner. This has all the ingredients to be a fun war, but it’ll be interesting to see how far they go. Both Maclin and Warner have no issue being physical and bloody, but will TNA allow it after a recent report saying that the company is moving away from bloody matches? Honestly, both Maclin and Warner are good enough to not need blood, but it’ll be a change from their more recent wars. Although I expect Steph De Lander to make her presence known, I expect Maclin to figure out the numbers game and retain the title.

TNA World Tag Team Champions The Nemeths vs. The Rascalz

The Rascalz are a team that can be relied on for a good match and are always in the running to be the champions whether they are built up or not. They have a lot of momentum after winning the four-way to become the challengers…I just don’t expect their time to be now. The Nemeths’ antics are too new for them to lose the titles on a two week build. It’ll be interesting to see what comes out of this show for The Nemeths heading into Slammiversary. I feel like they aren’t done with The Hardys.

Santino Marella with Arianna Grace vs. Robert Stone with Tessa Blanchard - Winner is Officially the TNA Director of Authority

While Robert Stone having connections to the “higher ups” and, therefore, having power in TNA came out of nowhere, you can’t deny that Stone plays his role well. He makes himself very easy to hate, which is a perfect parallel to Santino Marella’s easy-to-love character. I feel like this feud has allowed Santino Marella to step up his character game by being much more serious to go along with his comedy. While I do expect some comedic spots and shenanigans from the outside from Grace/Blanchard/Crawford (and maybe more?), I also expect Marella and Stone to really go at it to claim the official title of TNA Director of Authority. Who wins? Well, there’s more to do, I think, with Stone winning. However, I tend to be wrong with big storyline calls on TNA+ monthly specials. If Stone wins, though, maybe it leads to a big blow off at Slammiversary.

Joe Hendry vs. Frankie Kazarian

There is strong in-ring chemistry between Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian. They’ve had their battles over the last year and this will be another good match. I just don’t know why it’s happening beyond Kazarian being a thorn in Hendry’s side all the time. Hendry lost the title to Trick Williams and well…that’s it. No rematch. No talk of a rematch. No hint of a rematch. In fact, the focus has been on Mike Santana and him possibly taking the title at Slammiversary - especially after losing the way he did to Trick Williams on NXT. It has been Mike Santana stepping up to try and save the title for TNA - not Joe Hendry. Not having Hendry challenge for the title at this show may be to protect him or to save it for Slammiversary. I don’t know. All I know is that it feels like there is a shift of support and momentum in TNA right now and Hendry is being passed up. I would have had him strike on his rematch now rather than wait. Or…I don’t know, maybe there won’t be a rematch? Either way, I expect Hendry to win here so that he gets his momentum back for whatever he does next. However, I think Kazarian would be the better choice, honestly. He has been losing way too much and needs to look strong so that he can possibly be a good first or second challenger for whichever face saves the TNA World Title from Trick Williams. (Full Disclosure: I wrote my Hendry/Kazarian thoughts before the June 5th iMPACT! After watching the show, it’s interesting that Hendry is cool with Elijah getting the first shot at Trick Williams and I’m not sure I loved it. I did, however, like what Kazarian had to say to Hendry and that sold the Against All Odds match for me from Kazarian’s point of view. I wish the backstage interaction took place last week instead of this week so that the lack of a title rematch was understood in advance.)

TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich vs. Lei Ying Lee

This match came about pretty randomly with Masha Slamovich calling out Lei Ying Lee. I don’t hate the idea of a champion calling out a new contender, but I was surprised that Lee was chosen. Don’t get me wrong - Lee has looked solid in TNA, but she hasn’t had much traction. In fact, I expected Lee to have a bigger involvement in the issues between Rosemary and Xia Brookside since she has been a side character in their battles. Lee challenging for the TNA Knockouts World Championship, on the other hand, came out of left field. I am looking forward to the action of this match, though, but I don’t see Slamovich losing. It’ll be interesting to see who TNA heats up coming out of this show, though, to challenge Slamovich at Slammiversary. Is it too early for Indi Hartwell or will an NXT name be considered?

TNA World Champion Trick Williams vs. Elijah

I hate to sound like a broken record, but this match also came about randomly. Yes, Elijah has been hanging around the main event scene while helping out Joe Hendry, but…what exactly has he done to earn this title shot? Sure, Elijah got involved in the Trick Williams/Mike Santana match on NXT, but that happened after the Against All Odds title match was announced. I don’t hate getting this match because I think Trick Williams and Elijah have worked well together when they’ve had their moments, but I would have liked to have seen more of a reason for this match beyond just an announcement of Elijah taking on the winner between Williams and Mike Santana. Clearly, this is just a vehicle to get to the next match, though. I expect there to be shenanigans with people getting involved. Don’t be surprised to see Joe Hendry try to help Elijah. Maybe he even costs Elijah the match by accident since many have been waiting for them to implode. Mike Santana getting involved makes sense. Frankie Kazarian getting involved makes sense. First Class getting involved after what they did on NXT and their issues with Mike Santana makes sense. Hmm - Trick Williams, Elijah, Joe Hendry, Mike Santana, AJ Francis and Frankie Kazarian totals six people getting involved. Last year’s Slammiversary main event was a Six-Way Elimination Match for the TNA World Championship. Could this year’s Slammiversary be similar? It would be a good way to get Joe Hendry his rematch, the belt off of Trick Williams while making him still look good, Mike Santana as the new face of the company, and new storylines coming out of the match.

Overall Thoughts

The TNA+ monthly specials always end up being a fun watch for me. I know that I always ask for more build to the main matches in these previews, but I also know that the focus for TNA is mainly on their bigger shows. With Slammiversary being in July, I expect Against All Odds to give us some hints as to where the company is going for the big PPV. So - while the top of the card matches on Against All Odds might not have a ton of heat behind them, I’m sure that TNA will ramp it up for Slammiversary. I am still looking forward to Against All Odds and am sure that the in-ring action will be very strong.
