WWE will present Money in the Bank this Saturday on Peacock and Netflix from Los Angeles, California with a 7:00 PM Eastern start time for the PPV. Here is our take on what will happen on Saturday.
Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Naomi vs. Giulia vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Roxanne Perez
Dave: I am never a fan of a babyface carrying the case because the "any time" nature of MITB favors a heel. That takes Rhea and Stephanie out for me. Alexa is more face than heel so she's out too. I love Guilia but I think it's too soon for her to win here. That leaves Roxanne, who showed the world what she could do in The Royal Rumble, and Naomi, who is doing the best work of her career. If it's me, I go with with Perez so that she can rub the briefcase in Liv Morgan's face and continue the drama in The Judgment Day. If not her, Naomi would be great as well.
Mike: The name that makes the most sense from a storyline standpoint to me is Naomi. She is getting a decent push as a heel and the heels holding the briefcase is always better for drama. There are a lot of talents who are young that they can go back to later on or who have been in the top position. In my mind, Naomi has earned this and is the best choice.
Richard: This could be booked as NXT vs the main roster since three of the six are recent call ups from Tuesday nights, even though they all have a justified position in this match. You could give any of these people the briefcase, but I wouldn't give it to Rhea since she will be contending for a title without the need to take advantage of the champion. I think Naomi's time has passed but since she is probably done with Jade (please), she has nothing to do until Bianca is cleared. I think Roxanne would be a good story since it would piss off Liv and Raquel (and by osmosis, Dom) and we can see her try to cash in only to be stopped by alleged allies. I like Giulia but I don't think she should win this match. I don't know what the chase would be like for her if she wins. How does Stephanie do the Evaquerator on the ladder and how many times does she do it? I think she is a viable option, but I would hold off a cash in, and she is already on the top so she doesn't need it. That leaves us with Alexa. If she is not going to be affiliated with the Wyatts, I give her the case. She can have a 'friend' for Lilly. I would consider having the Wyatts 'help' Alexa win, but then Alexa says she has grown out of that character and move on.
Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Seth Rollins vs. El Grande Americano vs. LA Knight vs. Solo Sikoa vs. Penta vs. Andrade
Dave: Unless they decide to go with a Jack Swagger like shocker here, which I hope that they don't, it comes down to Seth or Solo to me. Since Seth is the obvious choice and doesn't need the case in any way, I put it on Solo and watch the drama build between him and Jacob Fatu. That storyline is awesome and this would be the perfect next step in the upcoming battle between the two.
Mike: They've kept the brakes on Solo for some time and to me, this is when you let him loose. It would make the most sense storyline-wise, especially if CM Punk prevents Seth from winning.
Richard: This will mix into the next match so you probably know where I am going. When CM Punk did not qualify on Monday night, I figured it was Seth or nothing. With my track record picking stuff in sports, that means that Seth is taken out of the match in the first minute instead of holding the case after a half hour. I don't think it is time for Penta to get the briefcase unless they hold it until after Royal Rumble because I don't think he is ready to contend for the title. Andrade is here because . . . the show is in L.A.? Knight is in the match because we need to remember that he is considered by some to be a top guy and this is his chance to put his fingers on the briefcase and maybe hang from the hook holding the briefcase before he bumps to the mat. Americano is probably going to be tired from his symbiotic relationship with Chad Gable after Chad's match against Vikingo down the road. I know that there are some who think Solo should win, but that would be like having the third seed in a four team division making the championship series (ignore that if you follow hockey). I can't buy Solo as anything more than a 1990s Turtleneck Dwayne cosplayer who, for some reason is still in a position of power. I can see Solo come close, but in a way to pay back Solo for all of the great things he has done, Jacob Fatu costs Solo the match and then Bron and Bronson pave the way for Seth to get the win. Then we build to the main event.
Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena and Logan Paul
Dave: I have hated everything about Cena's return so I expect that the heels cheat to win and they continue to bore me with Cena's insipid heel turn.
Mike: There's been a lot of talk about Travis Scott appearing at this show, including at one point a pitch for this to be a six man tag with he and Jimmy. Perhaps instead he interferes. My gut is Logan lays out Jey with the loaded glove and gets the pin, especially if this isn't closing the show.
Richard: There is one thing to say about this match that is a positive. Logan Paul is in this match and not Travis Scott (but there are still two nights of SummerSlam). Jey might have a match against Gunther (see above) on Monday for the title so I could see him get roughed up after the match. Someone is getting kicked in an uncomfortable place during this match to set up the finish, but what if it is Cody getting revenge for not being able to pull the trigger in Vegas? Logan will get in his spots and will blame Cena on Raw when they lose. I am going to go with Cody and Jey winning, but Solo, Fatu, and Mateo (Mike is right, that is a bad name) come out to attack Cody while Bronson and Bron attack Jey to set up the moment that Dave will appreciate because it gets rid of a briefcase . . . the Seth Rollins cash in. Seth vs Gunther on Monday in Phoenix. If Cody is the person with the word 'soul' in his entrance music, why is it that John Cena gave up his to appease the Tooth Fairy?
Women's Intercontinental Championship Match: Lyra Valkyria vs. Becky Lynch (if Lyra wins, Becky can never challenge for the title while Lyra is champion. If Becky wins, Lyra has to raise her hand)
Dave: Becky has done a lot for Lyra since her return. It's great to see the veteran do that for the younger talent. I think that should continue here. I think Lyra needs the win to keep her momentum growing. She has stepped up on the mic and is becoming very credible. I hope that Becky continues helping to make a new star. That's how I would go with it.
Mike: From a story perspective, Becky winning makes the most sense, especially if this sets up a Summerslam feud blowoff.
Richard: I have enjoyed Lyra's promos leading into this match but Becky still comes off as 'bitter returning wrestler who does not like that the fans were not all over her while she was out so she thinks they don't care' wrestler. I like how Lyra is talking about how she needs to win because if Becky wins, the IC title will turn into a situation like John Cena with the Undisputed title. Lyra has found a groove over the last few months and I think she has done a good job as champion. A Becky wins feels inevitable, but I don't want it to happen. Especially since the payoff for her to win is to HAVE HER HAND RAISED. Becky is at a point where she does not need the championship and hopefully she tells anyone who wants her to win that it is better for Lyra to get another win over her to build Lyra as a star. I hope Becky has her bumping shoes on for this match and that Lyra wins the match.
