AEW DYNAMITE: FYTERFEST BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2025-06-04 23:47:00

It’s Wednesday and AEW Dynamite Fyter Fest is live from Denver, CO at the Mission Ballroom. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Ian Riccaboni, and Taz.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to speak to Will Ospreay. We are shown the confrontation between Swerve Strickland and Ospreay last week. Ospreay says it is important for them to get the title off of Jon Moxley and cuts a Rah Rah AEW promo and that Mox is a threat to AEW and maybe Swerve is one as well. He then says he is the one who has to stop Swerve, he’ll do it. He loves Swerve, but he loves AEW more.

Next week, he is calling out Swerve for a fight next week. We then get the music for Cru, Action Andretti and Lio Rush. They come to the stage and Rush says he has pent-up anger and a point to prove. He says the worst thing about AEW is Ospreay. Ospreay challenges him to a match later tonight where he will put onhis crime fighting pants.

Let’s hope he has the right pants.  It would be bad if he put on his time travel pants or his tea time pants instead of his crime fighting pants.

We then get Mark Briscoe’s promo from Collision where he challenges Mox to a match because his kids think that he quit on their match last week.

Jon Moxley vs Mark Briscoe

It’s a non-title match and Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir come to the ring with Mox.

They start by brawling around the ring and then in the ring with Mox going for his violent style on Briscoe. Briscoe gets a flurry of offense until Mox dodges a swinging neckbreaker from off the apron, and then Yuta works over Briscoe as the ref is distracted. Briscoe is busted open by Yuta’s attack and Mox takes over from there.

After the commercial picture in picture, Briscoe gets a series of strikes and chops, followed by diving onto Mox on the floor. After Briscoe gets a two count, they throw hands and Mox is able to take over with adding kicks to his attacks. They go back and forth with Briscoe going for Froggie Bo, and Mox grabbing him instead into the bulldog choke. Mox turns it into a juji gatame arm bar, but Briscoe gets to the ropes.

Yuta attacks Briscoe when he rolls to the floor and the crowd REALLY hates Yuta. Briscoe is returned to the ring by Shafir, but he gets a Death Valley Driver and follows with a Jay Driller for two. Mox is able to drop Briscoe with an arm wringer and a curb stomp. Mox gets a bulldog, and after Briscoe reverses it into a two count, Mox is able to reverse that into a rear choke and the referee stops the match.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Having Briscoe lose via another referee stoppage after saying he was trying to show his kids he never gives up seems like a poor choice.

We then get a hype video for Mistico.

Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa vs Julia Hart and Skye Blue

Mercedes Mone is ringside and has a table for one set up with a monster size steak.  How will Toni use it to attack Mone later in the match?

Mina and Blue start off the match by dominating Blue, and when Hart tags in, she takes control of the match. From there, Mina is the babyface in peril. After the commercial break, Hart does “Old school” by walking the rope while holding Mina’s arm and then dropping down with a strike to Mina’s back. Hart looks strong in this part of the match.

When Toni gets the hot tag, she gets a big series of drop-kicks. Mina and Toni have some fun double team moves as well as a bit where they nearly kiss but are pulled apart by Hart and Blue. Toni wins with the TCM Chicken Wing on Blue.

Winners: Toni Storm and Mina Shiarakawa

After the match, Storm grabs Mone’s steak and bites off a huge hunk of it as Mone backs away.

Lexi Nair is with Will Ospreay and they are interrupted by MJF and he tells Ospreay to stay out of the Swerve and Adam Page’s business.  He wants them to take each other out. Ospreay says MJF doesn’t want Page to win the belt because he can’t beat Page. MJF asks about Ospreay’s son, and when Ospreay grabs him, the rest of the Hurt Syndicate shows up to tell Ospreay to back up.  MVP wishes Ospreay luck in his match and Bobby Lashley straightens Ospreay’s shirt for him.

The Hurt Syndicate come to the ring with something to say. The crowd cheers for Bobby Lashley and boos MJF. MVP asks Lashley for his opinion of Denver and he gives it a thumbs down, so the cheers are over. MVP says that no one could ever remove the titles from his tag team champions. He then asks where are the best tag teams to challenge the Hurt Syndicate.  He then says they don’t exist and no one past, present, or future can beat the Hurt Syndicate.

MJF then has his turn on the mic. He says he wants his world title back, and that means he will have to wrestle a bit more often. He then says that Mexico’s top guy is Mistico, but HE is the best wrestler in the world. He then brags about selling out Mexico’s biggest arena. He then says that Mistico is a big fish in a small pond, and he will watch Mistico’s match next week, and if he thinks Mistico is worthy, he will wrestle him at Grand Slam Mexico.

This brings out Speedball Mike Bailey, Keven Knight, and Komander, who are up for the next match. Komander calls out MJF for what he has said about Mistico and Mexico in general. Speedball then says if they want the best, they are a group of international killers, which makes MVP laugh. Kevin then says they would fight the Hurt Syndicate tonight.

MVP says absolutely not, and they haven’t earned it, and they then leave

Speedball Mike Bailey, Keven Knight, and Komander vs La Faccion Ingobernobles (Rush, Dralistico, and Mortos)

They start with each person taking out the last person before they are all brawling around the ring. Eventually Speedball’s team works over Rush in the ring. After Knight gets a two count of Rush, things settle into a tag match. It quickly changes to Speedball to be the babyface in peril. They triple team Speedball and all three toss him into his team as we head into the first break.

When they return to full screen, Speedball is able to get the hot tag to Komander, who runs wild with lots of high-flying moves. Dralistico is able to stop him with a Destroyer. This leads to both men crawling to their corners, and we then get Knight and Rush. They go toe to toe with chops. Rush finally drops Knight with a rolling right hand before working Knight over in the corner.

Knight is able to surprise Rush with a spinning backbreaker for two. LFI start to triple team Knight, and this sets off the tag team siren and everyone is fighting in the ring. When LFI is tossed to the floor, Speedball’s team hits a triple dive. Komander brings Mortos into the ring and he gets an assisted Code Red for two.

LFI then takes over with triple offense on Komander and Dralistico hits a leaping Destroyer for two. From here we move to a series of two counts after big movies. Speedball and Mortos fight in the ring and Speedballs’ team hit their huge moves with Knight getting the pin on Mortos after hitting the UFO splash. Right after Komander hits a twisting dive onto Rush and Dralisticco after running the ropes.

Winners: Speedball Mike Bailey, Keven Knight, and Komander

High energy match that seems to be setting up a feud between Knight and Rush.

The Hurt Syndicate comes to the stage after the match. He says he is so impressed by them that they have won the prize. Next week, they get to face the Hurt Syndicate in a trios match. They also get a preview of that match right now.

Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley hit the ring, but they are driven out of the ring. MJF hits the ring and he is knocked out of the ring as well, and Speedball’s team dives onto them on the floor.

In the back, Alicia Atout is with Paragon and Daniel Garcia. Adam Cole says they have a shared mutual respect and they all hate the Don Callis Family, so they should team up for an 8-man tag against them. Daniel agrees so we have a match later tonight.

She is then with Christian Cage and the Patriarchy and he starts by insulting the city of Denver. Cage then says that Nick Wayne had a great showing at the New Japan Best of the Super Juniors, but he didn’t win. He then says that tonight, Wayne will before his Ring of Honor TV Championship tonight in a four way.

It’s time for the Max Caster challenge, and he is a bit upset that the referee hasn’t signed Max’s petition to be named the best wrestler alive. He starts the Max chant and again the crowd is able to do so fairly well. He doesn’t think so, though.

Max Caster vs Powerhouse Hobbs - The 5-minute challenge

Hobbs comes through the crowd in street clothes and Max lasts 49 second before Hobbs hits the slam for the pin and the win.

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs

Kenny Omega (International Champion) vs Brody King vs Mascara Dorada vs Claudio Castagnoli

Claudio goes after Omega and it quickly becomes everyone against Claudio. Once he’s taken out, Omega and Dorada attack Brody, who is next out of the ring. Omega and Dorada and Omega run the ropes before Claudio hits the ring. Brody and Claudio fight again and go to the floor. From here it’s dive time by Omega and Dorado.

Claudio and Brody brawl on the floor in a real hoss fight. Brody then tosses Dorada into Claudio before charging into him as well. Omega then gets a snapdragon suplex on Brody on the floor. Omega gets a Terminator dive as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Claudio is working over Omega in the middle of the ring. Omega starts to fight back and gets the “You cannot survive” move, but Claudio gets his knees up for Omega’s moonsault. They go back and forth with Claudio working on Omega’s midsection. Omega gets snapdragon suplexes on everyone until Brody cuts him off. Brody is able to slam Dorado into Omega in the corner.

Claudio gets a pop-up uppercut on Brody, which was impressive, for two. We go back to Claudio and Omega with Omega getting a V Trigger, and then Body takes over Omega’s position to fight with Claudio on the top turn-buckle. Omega joins them and as he is holding Brody, Claudio gets a doomsday device for two.

Brody and Claudio fight on the top and when Brody is dropped to the mat, Dorado uses Brody as a springboard to drop Claudio. Omega goes for one winged angel on Dorado who fights out of it. Brody and Claudio go back to brawling in the ring. I could watch these two beat the tar out of each other the rest of the night. Claudio is able to get the big swing on Brody.

Claudio hits the neutralizer on Brody for two, broken up by Omega. Dorada has a nice sequence of big moves on Claudio. After Dorado gets big dives onto Brody and Claudio, Omega grabs a One Winged Angel on Dorado for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Kenny Omega.

Super fun match as we head toward Collision.
