AEW's Anthony Bowens appeared on Denver, Colorado NBC Affiliate KUSA Channel 8 to discuss tomorrow's AEW Fyterfest event, which is set for The Mission Ballroom.
When asked what fans can expect tomorrow, Bowens said four hours of total nonstop action. There will be a little mystery as some matches haven't been announced.
They showed the footage of Bowens declaring he was gay on AEW programming when Harley Cameron tried to pitch them as a couple. He said the moment was crazy and he wasn't sure how the fans would react in the moment. He expected a little applause but there was a huge "He's Gay" chant. He said there was a point where he didn't believe he would have a career because he was closeted. He's never gotten anything but acceptance in AEW. You sometimes get rude things online but you have to focus on the people who care about you.
Bowens' passions in life growing up were baseball and pro wrestling and after baseball ended for him, he was looking for something to continue his athletic career and be creative. He's been wrestling for 13 years and with AEW for five. Bowens pointed out his career means he's performing 52 weeks a year so you have to be in the gym to stay in shape and protect yourself from the physicality.
Bowens said he didn't know who he was wrestling yet, so everyone will have to come to the show to find out.
It was a good appearance and Bowens, as usual, came off charismatic and likeable.
