AEW will present Double or Nothing 2025 PPV tonight from Glendale, Arizona. Here is our take on what should go down!
"Hangman" Adam Page vs Will Ospreay - Owen Hart tournament final
Cory: I have been saying for a few months now that the finale of All IN will be the triumph of Will Ospreay over whoever the champion is at the time, and since there isn’t a title match at this show, it’ll be Jon Moxley. Ospreay is hugely over with the AEW audience, and with his media appearances, it’s clear they are strapping the rocket to him. He and Page should have a good match as both are able to turn in the Big Match type of work, but Ospreay wins in the end.
Richard: This should be a very good match, but if we are waiting for Darby to win the title and if it doesn't happen until after All In, this is a match for the sake of having a match to have another title match that the result is already known. There is a lot of intensity in the promos leading into this match and that has helped the build. I would put the belt on Ospreay so I have him win this match and then beat Moxley in Arlington.
Mike: While I deep down don't see Moxley losing until Darby Allin returns to the scene, Ospreay vs. Moxley is probably the best bet they have for a big main event that could captivate people at All In: Texas. So, I'm going with Ospreay.
Jamie Hayter vs Mercedes Moné - Owen Hart tournament final
Cory: This is the finale of the Owen Hart tournament on the women’s side, and it means whoever wins takes on the champion at All In. While I don’t think Mone needs the match, it’s clear that she will get it as she is the much bigger name. Mone and Toni Storm could have a great promo battle, and while I like Jamie Hayter, she hasn’t shown much personality. I know she’s a tough wrestler, but that’s about it. We don’t know her motivation, her personality, or much else, and until they do that, the crowd won’t care about her either way, so she doesn’t sell tickets. Mone, on the other hand, is a great heel that people want to see beaten. Mone wins.
Richard: It would be a nice surprise if Hayter won this match instead of giving us an expected Storm/Mone match at All In. If Mone wins on Sunday, does she become a double belt holder in AEW and then what does she do with the TBS title? I'll go with Mone.
Mike: This should be about elevating Hayter after a great match in my opinion. Mercedes doesn't need the win. Hayter does.
The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) (AEW Tag Team Champions) w/MVP vs The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara)
Cory: I love Dustin, but he hasn’t been on AEW TV much as he and Sammy are the Ring of Honor champions. This just reeks of “Well, SOMEONE needs to have a match with the Hurt Syndicate so we can further the MJF story.” Hurt Syndicate wins.
Richard: Has MJF overshadowed the match? Probably. Will MJF get involved in this match? Potentially. Will MJF's help back fire? Maybe. Will THe Hurt Syndicate retain the titles? Most likely. It is nice to have Dustin on the PPV, but I need Sammy to wear his bar mitzvah suit during the match.
Mike: MJF has absolutely overshadowed the match, but in the ring, this could be a lot of fun. I love the idea of Dustin and Shelton mixing it up. I don't see a title change.
"Timeless" Toni Storm (AEW Women’s Champion) w/Luther vs Mina Shirakawa
Cory: AEW, have a seat, I have something to tell you. When you have someone new added to the roster and they immediately go into a feud/big match with the champion and lose, you put a limit on them. They come right out the gate and you tell us they aren’t good enough to beat the champion. How about, instead, you let them get a bunch of wins under their belt before that match, so even if they DO lose, fans know they can at least win against other people on the roster. I do think, however, this will be the return of Mariah May, but Mina is not going to win.
Richard: Have they found the magic that they think they have with the Toni Storm gimmick, and if they have, will they give the title to Mina? This should be a good match but I hope we don't go too 'timeless' in this match and take away from the talent of the wrestlers. Toni retains.
Mike: Again, I don't see a title change here. I do expect this will be a lot of fun.
Mark Briscoe vs Ricochet
Cory: Ricochet is getting a monster push and Briscoe has settled in as a midcard guy who puts over people on their way to the top. I expect this match to be a lot of fun, lots of craziness from both guys, but Ricochet gets the win.
Richard: Mark Briscoe might be the wrestler in any major company who is being misused the most considering their talent. I don't see any way that Mark beats the Barber of Jacksonville, but it has the potential to stand out on the PPV.
Mike: Ricochet has been pushed super hard and Briscoe won't be hurt by the loss. I expect Ricochet.
FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) w/Stokely vs Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness
Cory: This is one of the few matches on the card I think could go either way. FTR just turned heel and need to get some monster wins in order to build their long term heat, so most times, they should win via cheating. However, Nigel only wrestlers sparingly, and Garcia is someone they have put a lot of work into, and this feud has gotten more build than many of the others on this card. Since most of the matches on the card seem pretty predictable, I am going to say that Nigel and Garcia take the loss here to make FTR ever bigger heels.
Richard: What is the deal with announcers getting PPV matches? How many Super Bowls did Nigel McGuinness win to deserve this match? The other three men in this match are on the floor below Mark Briscoe in terms of not being used to their talent level. This should be a good match, and while it makes NO SENSE, I can see Garcia turning on Nigel during the match.
Cory: I don't know why, but my gut is Nigel walks off and leaves Garcia to the wolves.
Kazuchika Okada vs Speedball Mike Bailey
Mike: I think the addition of Bailey is a good one, and he fits in well with the high fliers on the roster, but he’s going to take his first AEW loss to Okada. If we are lucky we might even get Okada working at about 40% of his capacity.
Richard: I don't see AEW taking the title off Okada (is he still champion, since he wrestles so much). This should be a good match.
Mike: If you like movies, this will be yours to enjoy. I don't see Okada losing..
Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, and The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata) vs. Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta) and The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson)
Cory: This one could go either way, and feels to me like it was put on the card to try to draw some buys for a mostly mediocre card. It was clear they want this show to set up for All In in July, but other than the two Owen Hart Tournament matches, there’s not a lot to draw people in. It also isn’t going to be the main event, which I completely understand if they go with the Death Riders winning. This will be your crazy, all over the place, pure violence match with blood, crazy spots, and lots of set up for All In, but I see the Death Riders team winning to build for that stadium show, hoping people will buy tickets to finally see them defeated.
Richard: There is an arena (check). There will be anarchy (check). I like the touch of expanding the match to include women and with the two involved, we might see some interaction between the men and women. If Moxley gets beaten, what does it mean for the title picture since the Owen winner has the match at All In and Mountain Man is waiting at Base Camp for his shot. If they don't let Willow or Marina get involved with the men in the match, then what is the purpose of them in the match since it will be like any WWE mixed tag match. I think Willow makes Marina tap out to build Willow's rise back into the title picture.
Mike: Lots of shenanigans here! I expect chaos. Richard's idea of Willow scoring the win I love.
Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay and Harley Cameron
Cory: I love Harley Cameron and think she is incredibly entertaining in and out of the ring. Anna Jay has improved in the ring since her excursion to Japan. That being said, Megan Bayne is not losing to either of them any time soon. While I can see Penelope Ford taking a pinfall, since this in on the pre-show, it will be a win for Bayne to keep her hot.
Richard: It feels like we have seen this match before. Harley is a great character and a decent wrestler. Wasn't Megan supposed to be a contender for one of the titles? It's on Zero Hour so it will be 12 minutes long and Megan pins Anna.
Mike: Harley is one of the best and most entertaining acts in the company. I expect Bayne gets the win.
Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, and Roderick Strong) vs The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Josh Alexander)
Cory: Paragon just had a name change, Adam Cole has the TNT Title, and they still don’t feel like a big deal since Cole returned. I don’t know why Cole is doing more commentary than wrestling, but it really feels like the TNT Title is a deep freeze. They are also pushing Josh Alexander to the moon, Fletcher is a star who they can continue to build on, and Takeshita is the total package. This means another big win for the Don Callis family, leading to Josh challenging for the TNT title.
Mike: If they let them go 30, this could be GREAT but I don't see it. My guess is Alexander taps Cole.
Richard: Does the winner get to change their faction name? This feels like a throwaway match for the heels, but why are Fletcher and Takeshita in this type of match? Aren't they supposed to be top stars in this company? I like all of the people in this match and it will probably be the typical AEW trios match where they do many moves to pop the crowd without any impetus to win the match. Takeshita should get the win, but I can see Alexander pinning Cole to set up a TNT title match.
