I'm sure someone will provide a more accurate number later, but they looked to have between 1500800 people in attendance today. I was worried with my general admission seat I'd be crammed in but thankfully had some space beside me while still having a good view of the ring.
Before they taped Impact, there were several matches
Jody Threat defeated Vipress in a short match. Crowd likes Jody because she's local. After the match Jody calls out Dani Luna and they give each other a hug and say they'll always support each other even though they can't tag together due to a stipulation.
Amir Jordan lost to Sami Calihan. Amir sold like crazy and is quite athletic.
JDC defeated a local guy named Channing Decker by submission. This guy Channing Decker is really athletic with a good physique and I could see him getting signed somewhere soon.
The first episode of Impact began with Mustafa Ali beating Raj Singh with the 450. Smart move putting a hometown Brampton guy out there early. Mustafa Ali and the Good Hands beat him down after the match.
Lei Ying Lee beats Ash by Elegance with an airplane spin. After the match Masha Slamovich comes out for a stare down and says it's on against Lei for the Against All Odds PPV
Mance Warner w/ Steph De Lander beat the crap out of a local guy named Bryce Hansen. This was 100% Mance on offense. After the match De Lander said she's putting Steve Maclin and Matt Cardona on notice because Mance wants his title back.
They announce Jimmy Korderas as a special referee for a tag match between Santino Marella with Ariana Grace against Robert Stone and Victoria Crawford (subbing for Tessa Blanchard) Stone brings out Alisha Edwards as a special enforcer for ringside. After some shenanigans at ringside, Robert Stone's team wins when Edwards comes in to count the pin. They made mention of a stipulation where Marella's director of authority job would be on the line.
A table is set-up on the stage where Heather by Elegance and her annoying concierge (that guy knows how to be annoying) and they announce that Maggie Lee is joining them, now to be known as M by Elegance. Yes they had graphics up saying "M by Elegance" Harley Hudson and Myla Grace interrupt and toss champagne in their face.
Matt Cardona vs Steve Maclin for the International Championship was the main event of the first episode. Maclin retains in a good match. Unfortunately I felt bad for him. The crowd kept chanting "We want Chelsea" at Matt Cardona and "Chelsea's better" any time Matt went on offense. On a personal level I bet Matt doesn't care because at the end of the day he gets to go home to Chelsea Green and we don't but Steve Maclin deserved to be more than the opponent in a match where we got to boo Matt Cardona.
The second episode of Impact began with Indi Hartwell vs Tasha Steelz. Indi gets the win and after the match Mustafa Ali comes in and shoves Steelz into the corner. They teased a lot of tension afterwards in their group.
Eric Young challenged Moose for the X Division Championship. Moose wins after a low blow followed up by a spear. A funny spot early in the match saw Moose hanging upside down in the corner and Young standing on his crotch, putting his hand over his heart and letting the crowd sing "O Canada" After the match Eric Young beat up some guy in a blue shirt to get some heel heat back on himself (I couldn't tell if it was a security guy, an unnamed wrestler or someone else and there was no commentary to give it context.
Heather by Elegance and M by Elegance defeat Harley Hudson and Myla Grace in a tag match with a really cool looking Spanish Fly followed by a moonsault double team move.
There was a Monster's Ball match between Xia Brookside and Rosemary. This was more like an old WWF Hardcore title match. Highlights include the crowd really wanting to see the hockey stick used, a wooden door that was set up in the corner eventually being destroyed when Rosemary speared Xia through it (this door shattered like it was made of balsa wood but it looked really cool live) and instead of a bag of thumbtacks, they poured out a bag of hockey pucks. The ending came when Xia blocks Rosemary's mist with a trashcan lid and flips her off the top rope onto a Sabu-esque erector set of chairs. This was fun to watch!
Santino comes out for an interview and says for one night only he's stepping down at Against All Odds for a match against Robert Stone with the winner becoming the new director of authority. Santino talks about his family, his passion for wrestling and really gets the crowd going. Robert Stone comes out to trash talk him and threatens to take TNA wrestling away from Santino
The Rascalz vs AJ Francis with KC Navarro vs Brian Meyers and Eddie Edwards vs Laredo (all by himself) became one of those fast paced, lots of action cluster matches. It was very fun to watch live though. The end sees AJ Francis chokeslam Laredo but can't count the pin because of a blind tag in the corner from one of the Rascalz (I think it was Zachary Wentz) who comes off the top and steals the win as the legal man. Afterwards there was a show of respect between the Rascalz and Laredo while an official helped Laredo up the ramp
The main event of the night was the Nemeth Brothers with Frankie Kazarian losing to Matt Hardy, Leon Slater and Mike Santana. Santana got the big entrance coming through the crowd. This was really fun and the crowd was very into the babyfaces here. Santana gets the pin on Ryan Nemeth to send the crowd home happy. Santana just keeps getting better and after everything he's gone through I really want to see him succeed and ascend to the next level. After the match the babyfaces take the time to thank the crowd for coming out and making the shows this weekend special. Matt Hardy mentions he's 50 now but still feels so driven and happy.
Overall a really good show that was well worth the money spent. Tickets were very affordable and the crowd was quite diverse, it definitely didn't feel like a basement dwelling wrestling frat bro kind of crowd. I for one hope they come back soon. Thank you TNA for a great show.
