WWE NXT will present Battleground this Sunday on Peacock and Netflix from Tampa, Florida with an 8:00 PM Eastern start time for the PPV. Here is our take on what will happen on Saturday.
NXT Women's World Championship Match: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jordynne Grace
Dave: Both of them are great but unless they are calling up Vaquer, I would keep the Title on her. She exudes special. Not tha Grace isn't great too but Vaquer has an aura about her. I would have her hold the belt for a while longer.
Mike: I say it's time for Jordynne. I can absolutely see the title changing here.
Richard: They have done a good job to build this match and if they haven't already announced it, it should be the main event of the show. Stephanie has been a great champion and has even had some solid appearances on the main roster against top opponents. Grace has made a smooth transition from TNA to WWE and has justified her position in the division. Either woman would be a good option for champion and if Jordynne loses, does that push her out of the rotation? If Grace wins, you get a rematch, which should be very good. I think Stephanie retains and we see her next challenger at the end of the show.
NXT Men's World Championship Match: Oba Femi vs. Myles Borne
Dave: See above. To me, unless Femi is leaving the brand, I have him retain here.
Mike: I am with Dave. Oba looks and works like a star. To me, this should be about Myles having a great performance and getting over by ascending to the next level with it. I just don't see a title switch here.
Richard: Would winning a world title be the equivalent of a birthday present that you always wanted? For Myles Borne, both can happen on Sunday since it is his birthday. I thought it was a great story for Myles to get here because I think he is an underrated talent. Despite Charlie Dempsey's attempts to undermine Myles's success, Borne has gone through all of the obstacles put in his way. The final obstacle might be the most difficult because I don't see Oba losing this match, or any time soon. This should be able to put Borne solidly in the North American title picture for the near future.
TNA Men's World Championship Match: Joe Hendry vs. Trick Williams
Dave: A lot of people have wondered when TNA would get a big win out of their relationship with NXT. It should be right here as Hendry retains.
Mike: I am going the other way. I am going to predict there's a title change here to give Joe and some other TNA talents someone to chase. I wouldn't be shocked if another TNA talent is there and tries to help Joe but it backfires, since I don't see them just beating Joe clean.
Richard: I am surprised that Trick Williams is getting ANOTHER title match. At least this time, it is for a different company's title. If the build from this Tuesday's show is any indication, it will be Vintage Trick on Sunday night. Will the crowd be cheering for Trick or Joe in this match? If Trick wins the title, will people say that Trick couldn't win the big one in NXT so he had to go somewhere else to win a title? The only thing I ask for this match is since it is a TNA title match that we get a TNA referee for it.
NXT Women's North American Championship Match: Sol Ruca vs. Kelani Jordan
Dave: It's too early in Ruca run to end the reign.
Mike: I am looking forward to this more than anything else on the show. Each of these talents have so much promise and physically, are a ton of fun to watch. So, this one has a ton of promise. So, who wins? I have to think Ruca retains.
Richard: Kelani Jordan is turning into the female Trick Williams in many ways. For the purposes of this match, it is a person who lost title matches and keeps demanding more title matches and finally gets another title match. It would appear that Zaria does not have her friend's best interests in mind since she has put Sol in this position. I can see Zaria helping Sol retain the title, but it is possible it could be by interfering in the match and getting Sol disqualified. It would be nice to see some new faces in the title picture.
Tony D'Angelo vs. Channing 'Stacks' Lorenzo
Dave: Bada bing, bada boom.
Mike: It's too early for Lorenzo to sleep with the fishes. My guess is someone helps him beat Tony.
Richard: Instead of a Mafia undertone for this angle, it feels more like a horror movie because this continues on and on and on and on. With Luca missing and Rizzo in hiding, this should be a one-on-one fight, until Channing brings in his new family to try to take advantage of Tony. I would not be surprised to see Luca return (hopefully in zombie form) as well as Rizzo and see them turn on Tony. At least Coppola stopped after three Godfathers.
The Culling vs. Hank Walker, Tank Ledger and Josh Briggs
Dave: Hank and Tank-a-mania, runnin' wild!
Mike: Don't see a title change here.
Richard: If I had to pick a match to be added to this show, I don't know how many months it would take me to get here. They are strapping a rocket to Hank and Tank so they deserve to be on the show for that reason. However, they are not defending the tag titles. We have the 'reunion' between Brooks Jensen and Josh Woods (maybe Fallon Henley can break away from her 'toxic friend' Jacy to finish the full reunion). Hank or Tank pin Niko and then we might get an OTM appearance to tease the next title feud.
