2 COLD SCORPIO TRIAL PUSHED BACK TO NOVEMBER

By Mike Johnson on 2025-05-23 11:04:00

The scheduled trial for Charles Scaggs, professionally known as 2 Cold Scorpio and Flash Funk over the course of his international professional wrestling career, has been pushed back to this November in Kansas City, Missouri, PWInsider.com has learned.  The trial, originally slated for 6/21, has been pushed back to 11/3 with each side agreeing to the new start date.  There is a pre-trial hearing set for 10/23.

Scorprio was arrested on 6/15/24 in Kansas City, Missouri and charged one count of first-degree assault and one count of armed criminal action, each felonies, after getting into a fight with a man during an incident at the Love's Travel Stop, where Scaggs was working as a security guard.

According to a TMZ.com report, Scaggs and the man got into the incident at 3:40 AM on 6/15 when Scaggs told the man to put out a lit cigarette.  The man told authorities he thought his cigarette was out before he entered the building but conceded it may not have been full extinguished.   Scaggs told authorities that when he told the man he could not smoke inside, the man responded with "What are you going to do?" and there was a physical incident once the two went outside.

TMZ reported, "During the scuffle, Scaggs told authorities he pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the guy in self-defense. The wrestler said the altercation went on for several more moments -- and in the squabble, he got in a few more stabs too.  Cops say when they arrived on the scene, they found the guy who was stabbed lying on the ground ... bleeding from his head, chest, buttocks, legs and abdomen. They added that he was transported to a local hospital ... as he was going in and out of consciousness.  According to the docs, though, investigators were able to make contact with him at the medical facility later in the day ... where they say he told them Scaggs was the aggressor in the situation."

Sergeant Phil DiMartino of The Kansas City Police Department emailed the following statement to PWInsider.com at the time: "On 6-15-24 at 0340 hours officers were dispatched to 3201 Ameristar Dr on a reported cutting. Officers contacted the victim and suspect. The victim had numerous cut and stab wounds and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The suspect was arrested at the scene."

Scaggs, 59, plead not guilty.

Over the course of his career, Scaggs performed for WCW, ECW, the WWF, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Philadelphia's Pro Wrestling Unplugged and countless other promotions.  He had a long run with the ECW World Television Championship and held the ECW World Tag Team titles with The Sandman.  He last wrestled this past April for GCW in Los Angeles against Joey Janela.

Scaggs has only wrestled several times since the arrest.  He was dropped from a GCW Japan tour and Philadelphia promotion Battleground Championship Wrestling stopped booking him.  A number of former ECW stars have rallied around Scaggs to help fundraise in his defense, including Tod Gordon, The Sandman and Bill Alfonso.
