Does WWE now own the AAA archives? I am hoping Peacock puts up all those old six man tags with Rey, Juvi, Psicosis, etc.
No. WWE does the entirety of AAA archives. As it was explained to me, the footage that aired on Televisa in Mexico and The United States during the company's true heyday in the early 1990s is owned by that promotion and the AAA library is the last ten years or so. It's possible WWE could make a deal to license or buy that material but as of this writing, it would not be included. Remember WWE doesn't yet own the promotion. They will own 51% of the promotion's new parent company when the deal is completed later this year.
You were the first person to report Sabu's passing. I've seen a lot of outlets, including ESPN, did not properly credit you. Does this upset you?
I haven't noticed and honestly, it's not a story I wish I had broken, so the last thing I am worried about is whether someone credited me. My concern was and is that Sabu was properly memorialized and that the world knows what he brought to professional wrestling. If someone failed to credit me, accidentally or otherwise, I really don't care, because what was important to me was what Sabu accomplished for everyone.
Who would be the modern day hardcore death match guy that epitomizes what Sabu was in his day?
No offense to anyone, but there is no one today in any promotion that epitomizes what Sabu was, the same way that there will be no one who would be the modern day equivalent of Terry Funk.
Any chance Sting wrestles at All In: Texas?
I haven't heard of any plans for Sting to perform in the ring at that show...yet. I think him appearing as a guest referee or enforcer would be a smart way to add some uniqueness to the event.
Why does no one book scaffold matches anymore?
I think there's a few reasons. One, they don't think they can draw. Two, they are inherently dangerous. Three, they worked in an era where fans legitimately believed a Jim Cornette or whoever might legitimately get tossed off to their doom as revenge for the fans and the babyface. There's no need to do them anymore in my opinion.
Is the Sportatorium in Dallas, Texas still standing? I saw they used it for Iron Claw?
No, the building was torn down several years ago. The Iron Claw film was shot in Louisiana, so that's where that venue/set was.
What was the worst moment in ECW history?
To me, it's a tie between the fire incident and Sandman on the cross. Both, to me, were horrible in the moment, for very different reasons.
