Northeast Wrestling debuted in the historic Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY on Saturday 5/10 for Wrestlefest, featuring the retirement match of former WWE and OVW star Romeo Roselli, with Mick Foley, who defeated Mike Mondo with Vito in Roselli's final pro wrestling bout. Roselli's dream growing up in the area was to wrestle in the County Center and the event was the first time he had that opportunity as well as the first time to perform in front of his daughter.
The event drew in the area of 3,000. Rafael Morfi worked the event and helped supervise local promotion, logistics and venue relations as a favor to Roselli as the two have been long-time friends for close to 25 years.
Results from the show:
*NEW Champion Matt Taven defeated Jordan Oliver and KC Navarro. This was VERY good. All three men worked well together and it was a great way to start the show. If I could pick any match from the show to watch again, it would be this one.
*Oddyssey & Wrecking Ball Legursky defeated Kerr & Vargas (with Jared Silberkleit).
JBL was brought out by Dave LaGreca and Gabby Laspisa. Dave and Gabby were talking about the history of the building and mention a bunch of names who wrestled there. I was very surprised to hear a good amount of boos for Cody Rhodes’ name with so many kids and parents there. JBL came out and was interrupted by Jared and Vargas. One thing led to another and Vargas ate a Clothesline From Hell. JBL then brought out The Boogeyman to take out Jared. The Boogeyman was throwing worms everywhere and having people eat them in the first row.
*Rebecca Scott defeated Ava Everett with Velvet Sky serving as guest referee. Sky replaced Mickie James, who missed the event due to illness.
*MVP pinned Al Snow, who answered his open challenge.
*WWE ID stars Swipe Right, Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes with Zayda Steel) defeated Jaylen Brandyn & Jermaine Marbury (subtituting for Traevon Jordan) to win the Northeast Wrestling Tag Team Championship. Really fun. Zayda Steele got involved, so the referee ejected her, Traevon Jordan, and the person dressed as a basketball (who came out with Waves and Curls) from ringside. The basketball came back later in the match and helped Swipe Right win. It was then revealed that Steele had stolen the basketball costume after she got ejected. Fun idea. I am very much enjoying Swipe Right and Zayda Steele.
*Shelton Benjamin defeated Mustafa Ali. A lot of fun.
*Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy defeated the reunited Breezango, Fandango & Tyler Breeze. The crowd was super into The Hardys, as expected. Fandango and Jeff Hardy started the match with a dance off. The fans chose Jeff as the winner. After the match, they spent time on the microphone thanking the crowd.
It was great to finally see Jordan Oliver, KC Navarro, Swipe Right, Waves and Curls, and Mustafa Ali live after watching them on TV and streaming. And it was cool to see the nostalgia acts, as well. I must say - the crowd was into most things. It was a fun night. I hadn’t been to an independent show since before COVID, so…this was a nice way to get back into going to shows. I’m planning on hitting up some local shows in the coming months and this show got me excited to be back at more shows live.
Jerry Lawler, Kane and Lex Luger, among others appeared at a pre-show convention.
Next for the promotion: Northeast Wrestling and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers present Wrestling Under the Stars live at Eastwood Field on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 7:30 p.m with WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson, MVP, Matt Riddle, Maria Kanellis, Isla Dawn, Shelton Benjamin and an appearance by WWE Hall of Famer Kane.
