CLARIFICATION FROM PREVIOUS Q&A: When I made mention of pre-production discussions about potential Dark Side of the Ring topics for a new season, that was not a reference to ViceTV having staff working on episodes. It was a reference to the fact that I know numerous topics have been brought up informally - including topics I have been contacted about.
There's been a lot of talk about how high WWE's ticket prices are. My question is whether you think WWE realizes this or even cares?
No one is ever going to admit it on record, but I am sure they know. Under TKO, they are a numbers-driven company and their main goal is to maximize every potential revenue source they can muster into existence. Are there people who think the prices are too high? I am sure someone does (whether they state it or not) but it's hard to argue when they are making more money than ever before. If the product cools and they can't move the tickets, one would think they will adjust.
Is Duke Droese in jail?
No, court records indicate he made bond the same day he was arrested. He has a court hearing later this month. As of this writing, he is not in jail.
Any insight re: Hook’s injury/illness situation?
All I have heard is that he was banged up.
What does a WWE legends deal involve? I'd like to know what the talents do for WWE, how much they get paid and how long the the lasts for?
It's more or less a licensing deal that gives WWE the rights to use the talent's name and likeness in WWE licensing for video games, action figures and other materials. It basically pays them a flat fee to have them as part of the family and leaves the door open for appearances, but it doesn't mean those talents aew exclusive to the company. At different times, I've heard of deals being worth at least $10,000 for certain talents, although that rate may have changed under TKO and I am sure it varies on a talent to talent basis. The deals usually last a year or so and then the two sides can lock in another deal.
Do you intend to go to AEW at the 2300 Arena? Do you think the old ECW front row will be there?
If I can go and work and live-blog from the venue, sure. As far as the old ECW front row, I don't know about that. I think people forget it's been 25 years since the original ECW ran there. Life moves on and I don't know where life has taken some of those folks, so the idea they would all return to their old seats on the same night, eh, I don't think so. We will see. I know the atmosphere will be great at those shows. Philly always comes out for what they see as special shows and certainly AEW in that venue should be special.
Long time reader, first time question... Rock and Roll Buck Zumhoffe! We all know what this piece of $hxt is in jail for now! After he was arrested and convicted TWICE on similar charges, Awa still booked him again as well as wwe! Why?! It makes no sense to me! Not only is he a convicted sex offender but he also really sucked in the ring! Also, how has Dark side of the Ring, not done an episode on this scumbag yet?! Any thoughts?! Thanks guys!
I don't know why he hasn't been the subject of a Dark Side of the Ring, although certainly the episode would be among the darkest ever. I can't speak for why he was booked after he was arrested back then, but it certainly looks pretty awful in hindsight.
Given Dark Side of the Ring had a jailhouse interview with Billy Jack Haynes, do you think they could do one with Tammy Sytch?
I am guessing it all has to do with whether they ever do a Tammy episode and what the local rules would be in Florida, where she will be serving time until 2039.
How much longer can they keep doing these Dark Sides?
As long as Vice TV wants the series to continue, they will keep doing them. As long as there are stories about professional wrestling that are interesting to people outside of the wrestling bubble, they can find a way.
