RHEA RIPLEY ON HER WRESTLEMANIA 41 EXPERIENCE, ORTON TALKS FIRST CENA MATCH SINCE 2017 AT BACKLASH AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2025-05-08 04:22:00

While over in Australia promoting WWE's upcoming events in Perth, Rhea Ripley was interviewed by Channel Nine's Wide World of Sports there and commented on her experience this year at Wrestlemania 41, noting, "It was a wild experience.  "It was special and honestly, I've done a lot - that was like my sixth WrestleMania - but this one was different and I know the outcome wasn't exactly what I was wanting, but to go out there with the girls who I grew up with in NXT [was special].  "I moved over here [to the United States] at 20 years old and these girls were pretty much my family, they were like my sisters and the only ones that I saw every single day.  It was a very competitive nature, but a very loving nature at the same time.  To go out at WrestleMania and have such an awesome match where you know that you had the crowd the entire time and that adrenaline rush - all of us broke down in tears.  Even on the bus afterwards, I couldn't come down from that high.  Seeing the video of Iyo's family crying in the crowd, it was so special because I've had that moment and Bianca has had that moment. Iyo hadn't had that moment yet and to see her have it and captured and presented to everyone, it was a really special day."   Ripley also commented on dealing with injuries and more.

Randy Orton promoted this Saturday's Backlash PPV in St. Louis, where he will face John Cena in an interview with Billboard.com.  On facing Cena for the first time since 2017 in the ring, Orton commented, "It’s different, because I’m the good guy, and that’s never been the case before — so I don’t know what to expect.  I wouldn’t say I’m nervous, but I’m very excited to see, because usually I know the type of reaction I’m going to get, or at least I know the type of reaction I want. Usually, it’s close to that. But with this, I don’t know. They might love John. They might s–t on me and be booing me.  I know it’s my hometown and I’m from St. Louis and I grew up here — but as far as being the hometown guy, I’m not at all the Cardinals games, or wearing the Blues jersey, and doing all that s–t. I’m a homebody. I’m not out. I have my kids and wife, and we stay to ourselves when I’m in town. It’s not that I don’t rep the city, but I’m not out there repping the city. So it’s not like everyone is going to love me necessarily. I’m very curious to see how Saturday goes.”
