I imagine you're getting tons of questions about the wave of WWE releases, so here's mine:
1. Braun Strowman - big surprise to me. I figured there was still some mileage to be had there. Always a fan of the big men who can do some freaky stuff. Do you have any inkling if this was just a big $$ contract they wanted to cut, they've done all they think they can do or was there a backstage issue?
2. Shayna Baszler - criminally misused on the main roster. That one is a shame and certainly a situation where I see it as creative failing her over and over.
Braun surprised me a lot. His work has been strong and he’s a huge asset. My hunch is that his contract worked against him. He has been in WWE for a long time and that usually means his pay has risen over the years. When a company is looking to cut costs, those variables come into play, as Eps and I discussed on Saturday’s show. I agree 100 percent on how they bungled Shayna. What makes it worse is that HHH knew exactly how to book her in NXT and never did much with her on the main roster.
With all the noise of the internet these days, does it feel like (as with other forms of media) not only do we have lost media but also lost in how things were covered, discussed and reported at that time? I feel like key information gets left out in a lot of modern media and gets taken as fact. Have we lost more wrestling history than whats been able to be reported over the years?
It all depends on where you go for your information. You can get the truth in wrestling news and everything else if you go to the right places. You can also be lied to in a big way, or at least given only part of a story, if you go to the wrong places.
With him screwing up the Mania main event and whatever he passed for an explanation for it I ask this: Why does TKO have the Rock on their BOD? What does he do? What value or knowledge does he bring other than his name? I think both sides would be better off if they part ways. The Rock has the trademarks he long wanted. He doesn’t need the money and WWE/TKO doesn’t need the meddling and aggravation he brings. Your thoughts?
To quote The Rock, it doesn’t matter what I think. He is extremely tight with the boss, Ari Emanuel and Ari wants him in the position he’s in. It’s that simple.
Was WrestleMania 41 the first wrestling event where every match had its own sponsor? I've never seen that before.
If TKO has their way, you will see that as often as possible. Everything that the company does it about making money.
I think Corey Graves is a good announcer who has been great at times in his announcing career. But clearly WWE prefers Wade Barrett over him. Do you agree that Barrett is a step or two above Graves as an announcer?
I prefer Wade to Corey, and that is not meant as an insult to Corey. Wade is just really, really good. Plus, he is a lot easier to deal with than Corey, who has been known to have outbursts from time to time. I prefer consistency and no drama myself.
