By Adam Cardoza on 2025-05-04 04:04:00

Wrestling Open MA “Please Come Back”

5/1/25 Worcester, MA

At Please Come Back, the talent picks their opponents, typically unknown or underserved wrestler who could use a platform. If ever there was a place for this type of show, OPEN is IT.

Spotlight Match: Sammy Diaz vs Johnny Medina

Medina thinks we all smell bad. He’s got a kind of “tough guy goes raaaaahhh” demeanor about him but not because he IS tough and angry…but maybe he feels he’s SUPPOSED to be that way? He definitely takes a few cheap shots here and there, but he’s mostly tries to overwhelm Diaz with his ferocity. Sammy rallies back after a few minutes and hits a Michanoku driver for the three. Solid match technically but something about the crowd connection didn’t land here.

Lauren St. James is on announcer duty tonight. Paul Crockett & Bear Bronson are in the commentary nest. Please Come Back’s format has opened several doors for talent over the years. Who will the Worcester tastemakers latch onto this time? Let’s goooo!

Match 1: Cold Rain Conway vs Zak Patterson

Rain is opening another show with an open challenge. And this is already not going well for him. Zak, visiting us from

Canada, is jacked and easily tossing Conway around. We like a good giant swing here. Zak basically hits an F15, Rain does a damn 450 rotation on his way down. Crowd popped hard for this three and we get the first “Please Come Back” of the night. I know it’s the name of the show but this was well positioned and earned.

Match 2: Rickey Shane Page vs Austin Luke

We know Austin Luke here but it’s been a minute since Prince Harming has been around. Maybe he’s been in the shadow of Marcus Mathers a bit. Regardless, We already know we like both these guys so this is just a good reintro for some of the Open newer fans. Luke tries to be smarmy with RSP but that was a very bad idea, Page just explodes and send him flying. RSP torments Luke with the old classics, including my favorite: the toss right into a kick to the back of the head. Austin brutally snaps RSP’s fingers with a crack and dumps the big man on his head. Page manages to reverse a rebound clothesline and rolls Austin up, putting his full weight into the cradle for the three! Both these guys coming back is elementary.

Match 3: Pedro Dones vs Rickey Pryce

At first glance, Pryce kinda looks like the Son of Crowbar. He does a good job annoying the people who want to cheer “We” for Dones…and an equally good job selling the beatdown Dones gives him for annoying us. Pedro posts himself, goving Pryce a target to start to work that shoulder over. The crowd stays behind Dones, who rallies back. A big airplane spin sets up the finish but Pryce hits a really cool blockbuster style basement ddt for a close call. Pedro finally catches Pryce with a shoulder breaker and he gets the three. Dones gives respect to Pryce and the crowd claps hard for the efforts.

Match 4: TJ Crawford vs Jake Lang

Lang is an artist. He has a painting on a stand with his name on it. He kind of looks like DJ Powers but more built. TJ has a big fact: he debuted five years ago at a Please Come Back show. And now? Big Business runs the world. The early minutes allow Lang to show off his promise as a punching bag, Crawford just running him over and letting him collapse. He manages to dodge a silver bullet and faceplants TJ into the top rope. This quickly turns into a VERY hard hitting back and forth contest. Multiple near falls and false finishes. TJ understood the assignment and put this guy through a clinic. The silver bullet gives TJ the win but Lang gets a warm PCB from the crowd. I could see him back here.

Match 5: The Residency (Rex Lawless & RJ Rude) vs The Slimeballz (Tommy Rant & Sage Chantz)

The energy RADIATING off the Slimeballz is ridiculous. They look like they could be toys from the early 90’s. The Residency doesn’t like how gross they are. And how slimy they are. But what they really don’t like? Getting the crap beaten out of them in the early going. Sage takes a wicked whip that baseball slides him head first into the bottom rope. Grossssss bump, hope he’s good. Rude and Rex just drop him on his head a LOT, while the crowd gets behind the Slimeballz. Long beating but Rant finally get the hot tag and destroys the Residency. Rude barely survives a high velocity cannonball after Sage is used as a weapon to spear Rex. Rant unfortunately runs into a surprise Lawless big boot, setting up Sage for a chokebomb backstabber for the win. Really good match here and a very loud “Please Come Back” for their efforts tonight!

Main Event (1st half): Gabby Forza vs Kylie Alexa

I just saw Kylie main event at Focus Pro last weekend so I know what the potential is here, her being Kenzie Paige’s sister. The crowd is STOKED for Gnomie to be back. The energy for this feels pretty off the charts.  Gnomie had a hat for Alexa…she stomps it flat. Gnomie just overpowering Kylie early. It’s a mugging. Kylie sweeps the feet while Gabby tries coming off the the rope and almost stomps her through the buckles. What I like about Kylie is she is clearly throwing her ALL into every shot. She HAS TO against Gnomie. Alexa is a vicious pitbull just taking Forza apart. But the crowd is clearly starting to appreciate this intensity with the level of booing I’m hearing here. Gabby comes back like a house on fire after getting sent to the floor for a near count out…but Kylie just stomps her back down. They slug it out. This is precisely where Kylie does not want to be…letting Gabby fire up. Kylie rocked! Running Vader Bomb connects for two! Kylie stays alive but Gnomie BLASTS her with an Oklahoma style uranage! Kylie rebounds and starches her with running knees. Kylie spun out of an electric chair for a powerbomb and a spear cuts her in half for the win! This was awesome. The crowd boos Kylie hard and she repays Worcester in kind. You can tell this is more of a “BOOOOOO (*come back please*)” kind of vibe. Good s***. Bring her back.

Main Event (2nd half): Ricky Smokes vs Milo Mirra

For our second main event, Smokes says he picked Milo because he wanted a challenge: To teach Mirra how to wrestle WITHOUT his pogo stick. Boooooo! This is a pogo friendly crowd and the seas part for Mirra to bounce through. The crowd chanting for Smokes to go back to Orlando, while Mirra shocks the Open tag champ with several near falls. Smokes kicks the legs out of a springboard to get the momentum finally. he plants Mirra with a hangman’s ddt as the crowd’s hope seems to die. Ricky spends a long time beating on Mirra but it’s the “I picked you so I could kill you” that fires Milo back up to chop the hell out of Smokes. Triangle blockbuster for two!  Another close call with a springboard corkscrew! The crowd wants Milo to get this. He goes for the pogo stick and bounces so high that he can crossbody back into the center of the ring. Ricky has it scouted though. He dodges and a top rope stomp ends the match for the tag champ. Milo slowly gets to his feet and the crowd hits the Please Come Back to close us out!

Denver Colorado is feeling inspired tonight and he has a great idea for Beyond Wrestling’s next Supershow on May 19th. He brings out Bear Bronson to pick his opponent! Who will he pick? Bear is calling out Marcus Mathers! are we getting a new champ? Market Madness is looking good! Dan Barry vs CPA! Ichiban vs Dijak! The return of Leyla Hirsch!

Next Thursday is the 16th anniversary of Beyond Wrestling and who is coming for that party??? A Beyond OG: THE FUNKY MONKEY ANGEL ORTIZ!
