IT’S WEDNESDAY!!!! That means AEW is LIVE and on the air. Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz dive straight into the action:
Mark Briscoe, Sppedball Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight & Kenny Omega vs. Ricochet, The Young Bucks & Kazuchika Okada
What? No $400,000 prize here. I’d be PO’d if I were these guys. This goes without saying but this will be absolute insanity bell to bell. I’ll keep up as best I can. Omega and Okada go chest to chest. I never appreciated how much taller Okada is. Omega and Okada start off but the Rainmaker tags Nicholas Jackson immediately. The Elite and Ricochet surprise attack Omegas team and kick away at the Cleaner. Nicholas with a springboard armdrag to Omega and he repeatedly snaps Omega’s arm. Okada tags in and keeps up the attack on the arm. Ricochet tags in and jumps on the arm. Wait? Is this AEW? Working a body part? I like it. Omega blocks a Ricochet armdrag and throws him into Nicholas JAckson, who wrenches RICOCHET’S ARM WITHOUT REALIZING WHO IT IS.
This is going to sound nuts, but so far this match strikes me as a house show main event. That is NOT an insult. On the contrary, its pretty good. Mark Briscoe is in the ring and slams Nicolas. All 8 men miss elbows and square off. An 8 man brawl breaks out. We go to commercial.
As we return, it’s Bailey and Ricochet one on one, but not for long. Matthew and Knight get involved. Nicolas tags in and he works over Bailey’s arm. Ricochet tags in and Bailey with a knee to counter a brain buster.
Okada is in there now. Briscoe and Knight save Bailey. There are multiple brainbusters. The fan favorite team with tandem dives to the floor. Dropkick by Bailey off the top to Okada. Nicholas tags in. Knight goes to work. THey might have something in Knight. Matthew is now legal, as is Omega. If you think I can properly call what’s going on here, you are nuts. We go back to commercial.
This match might be doing nothing for storyline or ratings, but it is absolutely perfect for the live crowd. The Elite prevent Omega from getting a tag. DDT by Matthew Jackson. Dunk by Omega to Ricochet. Briscoe and Matthew are now legal. Schiavone tells us we’re over 20 minutes in. Briscoe with a fisherman buster for 2. Okada with a neckbreaker to Briscoe. Bailey with a kick to Okada. Knight takes over. Speaking of take, I’ll take a 30 minute draw here, no problem. Omega and Okada face off and slug it out. Snap dragon by Omega. DROPKICK by Okada. I can’t describe the tandem TK Driver. Brsicoe kicked out at 2. Jay Driller by Briscoe for 2 , Ricochet with the save.Kevin Knight with a HIGH DROPKICK. Briscoe eats a rainmaker for the pin.
