First Mike Bailey. Then Rhino. Then Trent Seven. Then Kushida. Then ring announcer Jade Chung, which probably also means her husband, Josh Alexander, will be gone in February. Any idea what is leading to the exodus of talent when TNA is doing banner business? Is it Anthem cost-cutting for the end of the fiscal year? Or are these mainly decisions from the talent themselves?
When you see that many people leaving it’s pretty clear to me that they no longer think that the money that will be available to them is worth staying for. Less dates mean less money so they will go look elsewhere for a better deal.
With the last RAW episode having three women's matches and one men's match, it would be unusual for the WWE to book three women's matches on an episode of RAW, SmackDown or a WWE PPV/PLE fifteen years ago as the WWE didn't take women's wrestling back then as most WWE fans would use women's matches as the bathroom break but now that the WWE wants to push gender equality on its programming as well as WWE fans' attitudes towards women's wrestling changing, do you think that gender doesn't matter in the WWE anymore compared to 2009 when only the men mattered?
Yes.
What's your thoughts on the WWE transfer window? I think it's great and it's logical.
I like it. It aligns with the college football transfer window so it’s topical. And, it’s a logical way to move talents in a way that isn’t random. I like it.
Is there a double standards when it comes to aew and WWE? In your December 10th q&A column the question was asked about Chad Gable not being used. You said that he will be okay but yet when somebody in aew isn't used it's a bad thing why is this such a double standard?
Uh, I am not sure what you are even asking. Chad Gable has a role and is a defined character in WWE. That is hardly comparable to talents that aren’t used and don’t have a role in AEW. There is no double standard, just fact.
Just curious what you are hoping for when Saturday Night's Main Event returns this weekend. I'd love to see it have a more old-school feel, with the original logos, music, ring ropes, etc. Would love to see some backstage interviews and promos before the matches. Also, curious if you've heard any more names that might be appearing. While we might not be able to have Mean Gene and Howard Finkel, names like Sean Mooney and Mike McGuirk could really give it a special throwback feel as well.
They are doing 4 this year. I think it all depends on how well they draw. If they stay in the area where they were with the first one, I don’t think they will go overly crazy with the nostalgia. They are a product that markets to a younger demo and fans from decades ago are like me, OLD! If nostalgia sells, we will get more of it. If not, well we probably won’t.
