AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

It is Friday and AEW Rampage was recorded after Dynamite in the Fishers Event Center in Fishers, IN. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Matt Menard, Chris Jericho, and Tony Schiavone.

Mark Briscoe vs Kazuchika Okada - Continental Classic match

They lock up and go to the ropes, and Okada breaks by tapping Briscoe’s chest, and they lock up again and Briscoe breaks, posing for a Kung Fu attack. Briscoe drops Okada with a chop followed by a vertical suplex for two. Briscoe lays in strikes and kicks, knocking Okada to the floor when he nails Okada with a drop-kick through the ropes. They brawl on the floor, with Okada uses a drop toe hold to put Briscoe into a chair. 

Okada slams Briscoe’s head into the steel steps. Okada then whips Briscoe into a ringpost, and Okada rolls him into the ring. Okada hits a DDT, working slowly. Briscoe has been busted open over his eye. Briscoe throws jabs to Okada’s midsection and Okada takes the blows and hits a headbutt. Briscoe lays in more strikes, and Okada hits a suplex on Briscoe as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Okada whips Briscoe into the corner and follows him in with a big boot. They go to the top and fight on top. Briscoe hits a big strike, knocking Okada down. Briscoe leaps over Okada, and they trade blows. Briscoe dodges a kick by leaning backwards and they move to running the ropes where Briscoe hits a flying strike. Briscoe hits an exploder suplex and revs up the crowd.

Briscoe gets a running boot to Okada and follows with a clothesline and a fisherman’s buster for two. Okada escapes when Briscoe hoists him with an eye rake and nails Briscoe with a neckbreaker across his knee. Okada goes to the top and hits an elbow drop, but does not cover.  Okada flips off the crowd and goes for a rainmaker, but Briscoe converts it to a Death Valley Driver. 

Briscoe hits froggie bo from the top for two. Briscoe tries for a Jay Driller and Okada reverses it for a two count, which Briscoe reverses for a two count. Okada is able to get to his feet for a tombstone piledriver, but is too exhausted to cover. They slowly move to fighting on their knees and work to their feet. Briscoe lays in a series of elbows, but when he comes off the ropes, Okada hits a drop-kick. Briscoe keeps trying to set up the Jay Driller, and Okada keeps blocking it. Okada is able to get the Rainmaker for the pin and their win.

Winner and getting three points: Kazuchika Okada

Jericho comes to the ring and calls out Matt Cardona for attacking him on Ring of Honor last night. He says if Cardona was here, he’d have no idea what he would do.  This, of course, brings out Cardona. Cardona says he’s always ready and the match against Jericho may be the biggest opportunity of his life. 

Jericho says that no matter what he’s accomplished, Cardona is still just Zach. Jericho slaps him and Cardona attacks him. Bryan Keith hits the ring and both he and Jericho attack Cardona. They beat him down and we are told they will fight at Final Battle.

The Beast Mortos vs Daniel Garcia - Continental Classic match

They lock up and Mortos forces them to the corner, where they break clean. They run the ropes and move to locking up again and Mortos forcing them to the corner. Garcia dodges attacks from Mortos and gets a big boot, and then follows with a low drop-kick to Mortos’s legs, knocking him down. 

They lock up again and Mortos dumps Garcia over the top rope to the floor. Garcia is able to get a drop toe hold on Mortos, dropping him onto a chair, and then lays in ten on the floor. Garcia charges at Mortos, who is able to drop him with a big clothesline. They return to the ring where Mortos hits a Samoan drop as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Garcia hits a suplex on Mortos and both men struggle to get up. Garcia charges into Mortos in the corner and lays in a series of strikes. Garcia gets a side suplex for two. Garcia runs into a big boot in the corner and Mortos gets a series of strikes and sling blades. Mortos hits a power slam for two. Mortos goes to the top and Garcia meets him there and they fight on top. 

Garcia hits a superplex from the top for two. Mortos is able to grab Garcia for a shoulder breaker, follows up with a discus lariat for two. Mortos goes to the top and goes for a corkscrew from the top and misses. Garcia follows up with a crucifix rollup for two. Garcia lays in a series of chops, and then a jack knife pin for the win.

Winner and getting three points: Daniel Garcia

The Vendetta (Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie) vs El Elizabeth and Freya (I think, we never get a graphic to verify the name)

El Elizabeth does not get to tag out, and Vendetta work her over, making her tap to the arm bar from Purrazzo.

Winners: The Vendetta. 

Ricochet vs Komander - Continental Classic Match

Komander is the alternate who is taking Juice Robinson's’ place due to Juice’s injury

They start by running the ropes and getting flips and dives. Neither is able to get an advantage through these moves until Komander gets a déjà vu head scissors takedown. They fight on the ropes and Ricochet gets a kick to knock Komander to the floor and follows with a big dive. They return to the ring and Ricochet gets a two count as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Komander gets a rollup for two. He follows with a tejaris, and Ricochet rolls to the outside. Komander runs up to the top turnbuckle for a moonsault from the top onto Ricochet on the floor. They return to the ring and Ricochet blocks a swinging DDT and turns it into a Northern lights suplex, and follows with a brain buster. Ricochet hits a running shooting star press for two. 

Komander drives Ricochet into the corner and they fight to the top. Ricochet kicks Ricochet’s feet out from under him and then walks to the ropes into a kick. He follows with a leaping hurricanrana for two. They trade elbow strikes and kicks. Komander gets a back heel kick, dropping Ricochet. Komander runs across the ring, leaps to the top for a 450 from the top for two.

Komander goes to the top and misses a shooting star press. They fight on the apron and Ricochet gets a brain buster on the apron. He follows with a 450 splash for two. Ricochet picks up Komander for a running Death Valley Driver., Ricochet gets the Spirit Gun (a running back elbow) for the pin and the win.
