NASHVILLE, TN - On Saturday, October 19, “Queen Of The Ring” will make its world premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Based on the book by Jeff Leen, the film tells the story of Mildred Burke who, as a small town single mother, would chase her dream of being a professional wrestler and, ultimately, become the first female million dollar athlete.
Starring Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow, The Flash) as Burke, “Queen Of The Ring” brings the audience back to a time when women’s wrestling was completely illegal and the fight that changed an industry forever. Writer and Director Ash Avildsen was given a copy of Burke’s biography by none other than the legendary voice of professional wrestling Jim Ross, who is also an Executive Producer of the film, who was instantly inspired to bring her story to the big screen.
“Queen Of The Ring” is now set to kick-off a series of limited screenings at film festivals across the United States this fall. Tickets for these screenings can be found at www.queenofthering.movie along with additional information.
