TMZ.com reported this evening that WWE Hall of Famer Nikki "Bella" Garcia has filed for divorce from husband Artem Chigvintsev in the fallout of his arrest several weeks ago.
Chingvintsev was arrested earlier the morning of 8/29 for domestic battery and was booked into the Napa Valley Jail at 9:59 AM that morning under California Penal Code Section 273.5(a), which notes, is is "illegal to injure a spouse, cohabitant or fellow parent in an act of domestic violence. This offense is also referred to as domestic abuse, domestic violence, or corporal injury to a spouse."
Garcia has asked for privacy and it is not known who the victim in the incident was. She has since appeared co-hosting Netflix's Unfinished Beef special with a number of entertainment sites noting she was not wearing her wedding ring.
The Napa County Sheriff turned over the case file for Chigvintsev's arrest to The Napa County District Attorney's office in California. The case is being reviewed, but there is no word whether he will be officially charged for prosecution or what those charges may be.
The couple's relationship and wedding were chroniciled over the course of several WWE reality series on E!
The couple met while Nikki was competing on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, where Chingvintsev was paired with her. Chingvintsev is not part of the new season for the competitive dance series.
