Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon returned to ONE Fight Night 24 on 2 August, but his journey to the top has not been an easy one.
The 21-year-old faced off against Craig “Coco” Coakley at ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs Balart, a much anticipated primetime feature.
This is just one of the many exciting fights that form a part of the ONE Championship, a martial arts organization that hosts fights across martial arts disciplines.
ONE Fight Night attracts global viewers and bettors, many who try to win big with their wagers. Even though betting is illegal in Thailand, the home of Muay Thai, and some US states haven’t yet opened up local betting options, the ONE Fight Night contests draw hundreds of bettors to newsBTC's top offshore sportsbooks. Here, bettors can place their bets on winners of the fights, and enjoy payouts in cash or digital currencies. Luckily for fans of Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon, he was the favorite for the bout.
If you plan on wagering your money on Rambolek, here are some things to know about the young star that are both informative and may help you decide how much risk you’re willing to take.
Rambolek, born in Thailand’s Isan region, started with Muay Thai when he was just seven years old. He soon won a fight at a local fair, earning him 300 Bhat ($8.30). This first win motivated the young fighter to keep at it and earn an income to support his impoverished family.
His small stature but fighting spirit earned him the nickname “Rambolek”, which means “Little Rambo”, based on Sylvester Stallone’s character.
No longer small, Rambolek moved to Bangkok at the age of 15 where he took up residence at Phayak Phundin Gym. He fought well at first, but suddenly he suffered a string of knockout losses, that saw him reconsider his future as a fighter. He took a break from fighting to complete high school, but he wasn’t done yet.
In 2020, Rambolek returned to Muay Thai with a point to prove. He amassed several wins, including the Channel 7 Stadium Super Lightweight Championship in May 2022. This was followed by even more success as he beat Thailand’s Fighter of the Year Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai.
He managed to also defeat the Sports Authority of Thailand’s Fighter of the Year, Kongklai Sor Sommia. It was this win that secured him his spot in the ONE Friday Fights series.
And it is here where he made a further name for himself. He instantly secured a fan following on ONE’s Asia primetime event held at Lumpinee Stadium. The young fighter scored knockouts over Zhang Chenglong (a former ONE World Title challenger) and Theeradet Chor Hapayak.
Rambolek is the first-ever fighter to graduate from ONE Friday Fights to ONE’s global events. After securing his contract (a six-figure deal and a far cry from the $8.30 that got him into the sport), he continues to show that he is not one to be trifled with. He suffered a pair of defeats but came back fighting with a win over Soner Sen.
Despite the hardships and losses suffered, Rambolek has demonstrated his skills in the ring, and he is a worthy contender for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title, currently held by Jonathan Haggerty of the UK.
