AEW will present their 2024 All In: London PPV tomorrow. Here is our take on what should happen!
Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway vs. Willow Nightingale and Tomohiro Ishii
The winning team will choose the stipulation of the match between Nightingale and Statlander at All Out
Mike: It makes sense that something dastardly leads to Stokely pinning Willow so that they can torment her even more going into All Out.
Cory: I am going to go against my own thoughts and say that Statlander and Hathaway get the win so that Willow has a higher mountain to climb at All Out. The crowd really hates Hathaway, and this feud has gone longer than most AEW feuds, so I can see them wanting to wring a little more out of it. Hathaway will have to be humiliated in some way during the match for the crowd, but Statlander will get a cheap win for the blow off in two weeks.
Richard: While it sucks that this match has to be on Zero Hour, it is building a stipulation for a match at All Out. This match will probably be 90% Willow and Statlander unless they allow the men and women to fight and I see Kris trying to do something to Ishii and Willow making Stokely life a living hell. Since this is professional wrestling, while Ishii and Willow should win the match, they are not the heels so that means Kris and Stokely will win. Whoever wins should make the stipulation that they cannot lose the match at All Out. If Willow wins, I want a bouncy house steel cage match or Stokely on a Pole. Since we can't have nice things, we will get a middle of the road stipulation chosen by Statlander.
Anthony: Willow is so much better when she has a mountain to climb. Hathaway and Statlander have to get the W here for that reason alone.
"Timeless" Toni Storm (AEW Women’s Champion) vs. "The Glamour" Mariah May
Mike: This will obviously get a massive reaction live and I have to wonder if Mina pops up here so we learn where her true loyalties lie. I think it's too soon to blow off May's heat and I can see her winning the belt here so they can continue to elevate her. Storm can go all psycho and unhinged in trying to get the belt back.
Cory: The question is if this is going to be the end of the feud or a milestone along the way. May has dominated whenever they are in the ring together, and May’s new character comes across as genuinely creepy and messed up. I think having her lose would hurt the character, and having Toni lose would allow her to chase May, which has glimmers of being far more entertaining in that they have put Toni in the underdog role. May as a heel champ and Toni fighting her way bak has appeal for me, especially after her promo and work with Saraya this week.
Richard: In the pantheon of AEW Women's Title matches, this could be an interesting match. I like that they have given some time to allow Toni's psychotic behavior to expand while Mariah does anything to get Toni to make a mistake going into Sunday. I would love to see Mariah send Toni over the deep end by coming out in a black and white entrance and mocking the whole Timeless Toni gimmick. With Mariah in Toni's head, she will think that she might be able to get an easy victory, but Toni Storm, the wrestler will emerge and this could be a very solid match. I can't see Mariah losing this match. I have not been a fan of the Timeless Toni gimmick and it might be time to put it on the shelf for a while and have Toni go away for a bit for her sequel. I hope there is a Bolli-Stoli celebration for Mariah, led by Mina. It would be Absolutely Fabulous.
Anthony: May has been downtight creepy in her heel turn and I am all here for it. Storm, in my opinion, has been the most entertaining AEW Women’s Champion ever (not best, I reserve that for Hikaru Shida). Her act has, in my opinion, elevated the value of the title and will make soooo sympathetic in trying to win it back. Both women deserve HUGE props for what they’ve done in the build up. THe pick here: Mariah May wins the gold!
MJF (US Champion) vs. Will Ospreay
Mike: Given the time limit draw, I wonder how long they will go. This should be great. The obvious finish here is Ospreay breaking out the Tiger Driver and "hurting" MJF to win the belt. Whether they go that route or not, we will see, but they certainly teased it. What if MJF aligns himself with Don Callis and that's Ospreay's punishment for walking away from the family? Perhaps the obvious win isn't so obvious...?
Cory: Will only lost the title to MJF for a big win here. Is Ospreay going to lose at a stadium show in his home country? I think not.
Richard: I have often argued that the television should crescendo into the pay per view, but after their match on Dynamite a few weeks ago, is it possible. It is going to be like 1812 in Wembley Stadium for this match. The way the promos have been since the title change, it would seem that the title will be returning to the Bruv. And if Will doesn't use the Tiger Driver 91, Bryan Danielson will probably kick his f***ing head in. I hope we don't get more than 2 'crisis of confidence' moments from Will, but after what Max has done to him, why should he care about Max's safety.
Anthony: MJF is going to to bring the heat here. Last year he had to play the good guy. This year? He’s going full insanity (I’m thinking an Apollo Creed type entrance where he reenacts the Revolutionary War. Ospreay needs a dragon to slay, that’s why I think he originally dropped the belt to MJF. My personal opinion? This one is going to have the most heat and crowd passion. Zero chance Ospreay loses a 2nd time. New American Champion.
Jack Perry (TNT Champion) vs. Darby Allin - Coffin Match
Mike: In my mind, there's No shot Darby isn't winning (and Sting doesn't pop up?) right before Allin gets his title shot in NYC.
Cory: I’m betting when Darby gets to Wembley, he’s pulling a New Jack and looking for the tallest thing they will let him jump off of. I look for this to be an insanely dangerous car crash that calls itself a match. Perry, who I don't’ much care for, did his penance and has come back as a good soldier, so I can see him getting to have a win here at the place where he screwed up the entire company last year. IN MY OPINION. Darby doesn’t need a title and has actually been better without one.
Richard: A long time ago, in a wrestling universe far far away, I might have cared about this match. The Jack Perry character does nothing for me and Darby Allin gets his ass kicked every match but finds a way to summon the power of Sting and recover fully. With the discussion about Sting maybe being brought back, I have seen people talk about having Jack open the coffin and Sting comes out to help Darby. I have a more sinister and evil 'reveal' that I would do. I expect Darby to do something stupid during this match to take away from the "Jeff Hardy Memorial WHY DID YOU DO THAT Ladder Match Spot" later in the show. Darby has a title match at Arthur Ashe so does he need to win the TNT Title? Let Jack keep the title so he can have fun with his other members of the Elite. When the loser is put in the coffin, will they recreate the subway scene from V for Vendetta? (Please)
Mercedes Moné (TBS Champion) w/Kamille vs. Britt Baker
Mike: This is an interesting one for me. As long as they have a kickass match, it's a victory for all involved. The best thing for a program is for Mone to retain and give Britt something to chase. MY gut is Kamille is the determining factor. It's great to see her in such a big role.
Cory: Baker has done a great job in this feud since coming back, but I see Kamille costing her the title and her chasing Kamille out of All In rather than being a champion. Mone has found her character now that she’s not trying to be a super babyface. She’s better as a heel, having her be Shawn Michaels circa 1994 is a good role and she can be used to make Kamille a monster in the women’s division. She can be the “You can’t touch me” champion. Now, I could be completely wrong, and if she has to leave for an acting role, I can see her dropping the title, but otherwise, Mone retains.
Richard: In the pantheon of AEW Women's Title matches this is a match that will exist. I am more interested in what Kamille does during this match than either of the wrestlers in the match, but that is me. I am setting the hip shake count over/under at 4.5 from ring entrances to start of the next segment of the show. Are they going to take the title off Mercedes in the building where she showed up last year before she officially signed with AEW? Will Britt have someone help her to offset Kamille's presence, and if so, will that person end up turning on Britt to cost her the match? Mone retains, but who is her next opponent at All Out?
Anthony: 6-8 months from now? This is a huge win for Baker. I have been VERY critical of Mone’ since she arrived but she is the big money (pun intended) player here. Having her lose in her first really major title defense would be a nail in her coffin AND expose Kamille as an ineffective bodyguard. Baker has been a made woman since Day 1. She can take the L here and come out of it bigger than before. Mone’ can’t. Mone’ retains.
Casino Gauntlet for a World Title Match
Mike: Hangman makes the most sense unless there's a big surprise (Ricochet?)
Cory: I cannot imagine anyone but Adam Page winning this.
Richard: In a universe where logic reigns in professional wrestling, one of the first two in the match will beat the crap out of the other before the match starts (because the 'rules of the match' do not apply) and then when the bell rings, they win in 5 seconds. We know that won't happen. Since Tony takes from other wrestling companies to influence his booking, I hope he embraces the Cluster**** from the Spring Break shows and put 100 people or more in the match. I want four or five people in the crowd to be put in the match. I wonder if this is where Ricochet Irvin makes his AEW debut. What 'outside the box' names will AEW use for this match (and will they out outside the box what Court does for Battle Riot?) Since a title match is being given to the winner, it would seem likely that Adam Page wins the match since he hates Swerve (and has past issues with Danielson). If they don't go with Page or Tony's favorite (Orange Cassidy), I want them to shock the world. Jacked Jameson deserves a title match.
Anthony: It would be a complete shock to me if it isn’t Adam Hangman Page. This time, we’ll get all the wrestlers in the match. Page will pin an exhausted Cassidy.
Chris Jericho (FTW Champion) w/Large William) vs. Hook
If Hook loses he can never challenge for the FTW title again
Mike: Hook should choke him out in 10 seconds. You want to make the kid, FN MAKE HIM.
Cory: One thing AEW has done is stick to these types of stipulations. We also have Hook, who they are working to make a massive star. Jericho may have a huge ego, but I do believe him when he says he wants to get the younger guys over. Hook winning back his dad’s title in a stadium would be a great moment and I am down for it. Hook wins.
Richard: The ideal finish to this match would be Hook choking out Jericho and as he fails to fight off Hook, he says 'Bye Guys' and the referee calls for the bell. Since it is Chris Jericho, will he win this match? Has AEW dropped the lacrosse ball on Hook? Why not let Jericho keep the fake title, but free Bryan Keith and Big Bill from the vortex.
Anthony: It’s now way past Jericho’s expiration date to reinvent. I completely understand why AEW has him in this spot. THey see dollar signs in Hook and think Jericho is the man to get him to the next level. To be fair, I have always found Jericho more motivated to come through in these situations when he’s facing huge criticism. Hook is the future. He’s got to win here, if only to set up a singles feud with Big Bill or Bryan Keith.
The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) (AEW Tag Team Champions) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) w/Billy Gunn)
Mike: I always lean towards The Acclaimed and want to see them as the centerpiece of the tag division, but not sure that's where we are going here. FTR won against the Bucks last year, so it makes sense to have the Bucks go over, but wrestling isn't always about what makes the most sense. I will predict Acclaimed or the Bucks but I'm hoping for the Acclaimed. This should be a fun, fast paced bout.
Cory: This is the one that is the hardest for me. FTR won last year and I can't see a good reason to have the same finish this year. The Acclaimed were cooled by poor choices and don’t seem to have the big crowd support they did a year ago. The Young Bucks have been the Heel VP Champions for a LONG time and only defended the titles once since winning the back. I honestly have no doubt this will be a fan favorite match, FTR and the Bucks always work well together, and the Heel Bucks are the only good Bucks. I almost feel like no one should win, but there’s no way we get a screwy finish. I also think the rebrand means a Top Flight push is in the offing, and they would work best with the Bucks, so…I have no confidence in this pick, but the Bucks retain, then put over Top Flight at the next PPV.
Richard: This match should not be happening because the WINNER of the Acclaimed/FTR match earned the title match against the Young Bucks. When there is a time limit draw, YOU HAVE NO WINNER. Put the Outrunners in this match. Put the Iron Savages in this match. Put the Dark Order in this match. Since this is a Triple Threat match, I expect a lot of shenanigans to take place during the match, and maybe a cameo from Okada to do something, rub his hands together like Hamburglar and then say "BITCH". FTR should win the title, but I can see the Bucks retain.
Anthony: Sooo….the Executive Vice Presidents and co-founders of AEW have it in their contracts where they DON’T have to work all that much? And this was allowed, how? I have to agree with Cory on this one. FTR won it last year. There is no way they go over on the Bucks in Wembley 2 years in a row. The Acclaimed? Man, they were so hot once. Now, they’re languishing. 4 months in and this is the Bucks SECOND title defense? Hell, Roman Reigns was at this pace. Bucks are EVP’s. The division is in the toilet. Champs retain.
The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, Killswitch, and Nick Wayne) (Trios Champions) w/Mother Wayne vs. Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn) vs. House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews) vs. Pac and Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta)
Mike: A whole lot of bumps and madness. I predict pain. Who wins? My gut is the Patriarchy retain. I just hope everyone is entertained watching and everyone involved walks away relatively unscathed.
Cory: This is a ladder match, so look for insanity. In a good and just world, The Patriarchy would retain because Christian Cage is doing BY FAR the best work of his career not attached to Adam Copeland. ANY of these teams would work as Champions, but let’s face it, House of Black NEEDS the title to regain their mystique. I look for lots of nasty bumps, everyone walking out of this needed to be looked at by a Doctor, and Buddy Matthews grabbing the belts.
Richard: Christian Cage was a genius when he refereed the number one contender match, but the 'powers that be' did not appreciate his brilliance and put those two teams in the match. However, to prove that they were not stacking the deck against the champions, a fourth team was added to the match (maybe they are stacking the deck) and then they made it a ladder match (double stacked of conspiracy). I want the champs to retain because it means more Christian promos. The Blackpool Combat Triangle would be an interesting option since they have a long history as a tag team (technically going all the way back to Wednesday). I assume that Pac or Buddy will do the crazy ladder spot to out Darby Darby in the Coffin match.
Anthony: Simply put, there is way too much entertainment in the Patriarchy as champions. I look for them to retain here in what promises to be utter insanity. Not even sure, to be honest, if the Trios title mean anything at this juncture.
Swerve Strickland (AEW World Champion) w/Prince Nana) vs. Bryan Danielson
Mike: Danielson is going to go all out, but he needs to put over Swerve here. Everyone loves Bryan but Ospreay went well above the call of duty to help build the credibility of Swerve's title reign. Bryan should do the same. He's had his moments, his Yes Chants, he's chased his dream. It's his turn to put Swerve and AEW in a stronger position. This should be fabulous but it should be Swerve's moment.
Cory: I am having a hard time with this one, so let’s go down all of the factors going into the match.
First, for Swerve:
Ospreay lost to Swerve to solidify him as The Man. They are clearly going to have Page vs Swerve as a HUGE money feud. AEW has said that Danielson’s contract was up August 1st. Danielson has been clear he needs neck surgery. Swerve winning in front of a massive crowd would do more to cement him as their man going into the future.
Then, for Danielson:
He has given his all to AEW and should have their World Title on his resume. They have pushed and pushed and PUSHED the retirement stipulation, and usually that means he won’t have to retire. He is beloved by the crowd and having him win a world title in a stadium is as close to a WrestleMania moment as AEW can give him. It makes FAR more sense for him to retire in his home state at WrestleDream.
So. Where do I fall on this one? I am going for them rewarding Danielson with a title run.
Richard: When you look at this match, there are a lot of things working against the challenger. He has said that if he loses, he is done as a wrestler; he has said that he needs neck surgery; the company is building to Page/Swerve (but does it have to be for the title in their first match?); Danielson's daughter wants her daddy to be home; and Prince Nana will have to do his dance on the other side of Swerve since they are in the UK. However, Danielson's family will be there. If the Vegas Golden Knights could make it to the Stanley Cup finals in their first season, Bryan Danielson can win the title on Sunday. The sight of more than 50 thousand people singing Final Countdown will be awesome, especially when he wins. If they are going to have Danielson's family at ringside for the match, I don't want to see Birdie get involved, but what if Bryan Danielson had his daughter say what she said only for it to be a smoke screen and she 'slaps' Swerve and Danielson gets the win. I can see Swerve getting the title back at Wrestle Dream when Danielson has his FINAL match as a full time wrestler in Washington state. If Danielson should lose, I will start a campaign to have the title placed on Danielson because him losing is a mistake because the fans demand that he win even if Swerve is the better performer on Sunday night. Bryan Danielson is the acolyte of AEW.
Anthony: They are completely backed into a corner with the booking here. Swerve Strickland was THE hottest babyface in wrestling 6 months ago and has been completely cooled off/neutered during what should have the biggest run of his life. He’s in a no win here. If he loses, he joins the graveyard of AEW Champions and stars who were completely discredited during what should have been their biggest run (hello Wardlow). If he wins, he’s the guy that cost us seeing Bryan Danieslon. Because of the stipulation, Danielson has to win here, no questions asked. I’ll be a quickie reign to be sure, but the pick here is for a new AEW World Champion.
