NEW BOOK ON HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING IN WINDSOR, ONTARIO NOW SHIPPING

By Mike Johnson on 2024-08-13 15:36:00

A new book on the history of professional wrestling in and around Windsor, Ontario, Canada has been officially released and is now shipping

Promotional material for the 738-page Killers, Butchers, Cry-Babys & Canadian Destroyers: The History of Pro Wrestling in Windsor, Ontario, Canada by Jamie Scott Greer notes:

Professional wrestling has a long and storied history that goes back over 100 years. Since it's rise into the spectacle it has become today, there have been metropolitan centres that have helped define pro wrestling's success, like New York City, Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles, Montreal, and many more.

Across from Detroit, Michigan, lies the Canadian city of Windsor, Ontario. Too isolated in Ontario to feel truly Canadian, but not quite American enough, Windsor has had a unique place in the history of professional wrestling, as one of Ontario's first pro wrestling cities that has become a symbiotic partner in the history of Detroit's own wrestling story, as well as being the hometown for such icons in the business as WWE Hall of Famers Walter "Killer" Kowalski and Abdullah the Butcher, legends of the territory days like Art Neilson and Stan Holek (Stan Lisowski/Stan Neilson), the launching point for wrestling careers for the likes of Sandy Parker (first African-descent woman to win a World Championship) and Cowboy Frankie Laine, the home base for George Cannon's Superstars of Wrestling, as well as Scott D'Amore of TNA Wrestling and his own independent, Border City Wrestling. And find out the true origin of the finishing move, The Canadian Destroyer!

Discover the impact that Windsor, Ontario has had on the world of professional wrestling over the past one hundred years in the exciting story of "Killers, Butchers, Cry-Babys & Canadian Destroyers", the history of professional wrestling in Windsor, Ontario, Canada!
