8/8 NJPW G1 CLIMAX RESULTS FROM TOKYO, JAPAN

8/8/24 Results from G1 Climax 34 From Budokan Hall, Yokohama, Japan:

1 - Toru Yano and Boltin Oleg vs. Katsuya Murashima and Shoma Kato

Oleg pins Murashima after a Kamikaze.

2 - HENARE and Konosuke Takeshita vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Ren Narita

HENARE forces Kanemaru to tap out to Ultima.

3 - Jado and El Phantasmo vs. Tomoaki Honma and Hirooki Goto

Goto rolled Jado into a Goto Shiki (cross leg cradle) and got the pinfall win.

4 - Francesco Akira and Jeff Cobb vs. Gedo and David Finlay

Akira pins Gedo after a Fireball.

5 - BUSHI and Yota Tsuji vs. TAKA Michinoku and Yuya Uemura

BUSHI applies Fable and forces TAKA to tap out.

G1 Climax 34 Matches:

6 - Tetsuya Naito vs. Callum Newman

Solid match. Newman attacks Naito before the bell.  Naito goes for Destino but Newman reverses and hits a knee to the face.  Naito avoids an Oscutter and hits a Destino.  Two count.  Naito hits another Destino.

Naito pins Newman.

Tetsuya Naito has 10 points and ties for the lead.  

7 - SANADA vs. Great O-Khan

Good wrestling here.  SANADA hit a TKO.  O-Khan hit a punch to the jaw.  SANADA goes for the O'Conner Roll but O'Khan grabs him in a Sleeper and a Claw.   They trade reversals.  SANADA hits a Shining Wizard.  SANADA hits another Shining Wizard.  O-Khan gets a Sheep Killer, hits a Flatliner and finishes with an Eliminator.

O-Khan pins SANADA.

Great O-Khan has 8 points.

SANADA has 8 points.

Fun match.  O-Khan is on a roll.   

8 - Shota Umino vs. Jake Lee

Both men wrestled very stiff in this match.  Lee used his height and Umino fought from behind like a babyface should.  They trade a bunch of strikes.  Umino hits a Blaze Blade and follows with Ignition.  They trade elbows.   Umino hits a hanging DDT.  Two count.   Lee hits a high back suplex.  Lee with a Torture Rack. Lee hits a chokeslam.    Two count!  Umino hits a Blaze Blade to the face.  Then another to the back of Lee's head.  Umino tries for Death Rider, but Lee hits a knee to the gut and a high kick to the head.  Lee hits a Face Break Shot.

Lee pins Umino.

Jake Lee has 8 points.  

Shota Umino has 6 points.  Umino is mathematically eliminated.

It is surprising that Shota Umino is eliminated at this point.   Hiroshi Tanahashi pointed out that he and Kazuchika Okada won the G1 early in their careers, which was a tease that one of the young wrestlers would follow the same path.   Umino best fit that description.  Despite his record, Umino is still massively over with the kids and fans.  He will get there soon enough.

9 - Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Gabe Kidd

Very brutal and stiff match.  Kidd bruised ZSJ's chest in the early moments.  ZSJ tried for an O'Conner Roll.  Kidd kicks out.   They battle to the floor.  Kidd kept hammering ZSJ with chops.  They keep exchanging chops and slaps.  They trade suplexes.  ZSJ punt kicks Kidd in the chest.  They trade lariats.   Kidd with a brainbuster.  Two count.   ZSJ with  Euro Clutch.   Two count.  ZSJ attacked and stomped on Kidd's left arm.  Kidd could not lay in the chops with an injured left arm.  Kidd tried a rebound lariat, but ZSJ went for a cross arm breaker.  Kidd reverses into a German Suplex.   ZSJ blocks Kidd's strikes, and tied him up in an Octopus Lock.   Kidd reverses into a Tombstone Piledriver.  Two count.  They trade nearfalls.  Kidd hits a Emerald Flosion and goes for a moonsault.  ZSJ traps him in a Guillotine Choke. Kidd hammers ZSJ in the face with elbows.   ZSJ applies the Clarky Cat.  Kidd keeps hammering ZSJ with elbows to break the hold.  They trade strikes.  ZSJ hits a Zack Driver.  Both men are exhausted.  Kidd hits a Rebound Lariat.   Two count.   

They exchange reversals.  ZSJ traps Kidd in a Sleeper. Kidd tells ZSJ "F**k you".   ZSJ uses his legs to trap Kidd's arms.  Kidd's eyes roll back in his head as he goes to sleep.    

Referee stops the match.  ZSJ wins.

Zack Sabre Jr. has 12 points and leads the A Block.   

Gabe Kidd is eliminated.

Awesome match!    Go watch this match on New Japan World.    

Zack Sabre Jr. took a beating but shows he is the man to beat in the A Block.   It might be his time to win his first G1 and main event Wrestle Kingdom.

Gabe Kidd is a bruiser and he fits the New Japan Strong style.   This may have been the best match of the G1 Climax 34 so far.

10 - Shingo Takagi vs. EVIL

EVIL attacks Takagi before the bell.  House of Torture double team Takagi before the bell.   Takagi fights back.   Referee takes a bump.  Togo jumps in the ring to attack Takagi.   Hiromu Takahashi comes in to help, but EVIL hits a low blow on him.   Kanemaru in a BUSHI mask comes to the ring and hits a Tornado DDT on Takagi.   The real BUSHI comes to the ring and Togo hits a low blow.   House of Torture attack Takagi.  They low blow Takagi and get a two count.   EVIL hits Darkness Fall.  Two count.   Takagi hits Made in Japan.   Takagi goes for the pin, but Togo rings the bell.   Referee takes another bump.   

House of Torture attacks LIJ.  Togo chokes Takagi with a wire.  Kanemaru tries to spray Takagi with the Suntory Surprise but hits EVIL in the eyes.   BUSHI goes to spit mist in Kanemaru's face, but he ducks and BUSHI sprays EVIL.  Hiromu dropkicks Kanemaru out of the ring.   BUSHI hits a tope suicida on Togo.  Takagi hits a Pumping Bomber on EVIL and finishes him with Last of the Dragon.

Takagi pins EVIL.

Shingo Takagi has 8 points.

EVIL has 10 points.
