MUSTAFA ALI VS. ALEC PRICE & MORE: 5/25 HOUSE OF GLORY 'GLORY OF WAR' IN LOWELL, MA REPORT

By David Houston on 2024-05-29 12:42:00

House of Glory was extending their territory, for "Glory of War 2024", live on TrillerTV, coming from the United Teen Equality Center in Lowell, Mass. (the Boston area).

Johnny Torres, Sam Leterna with Shaun Prez work commentary. They're not the normal team so this was interesting to me as a regular HoG viewer. They were solid.  Didn't talk over each other. Never seemed "too" excited until the main event, where they got a little loud. Solid performance.  Camera work wasn't great. Too shaky at times.

They start big with House of Glory Heavyweight champion Mike Santana defending his championship against JT Dunn, a long time Northeast/New England favorite and a top heel star for Sami Callihan's The Wrestling REVOLVER in the Midwest.  Good match. Dunn came to play, pushing the HoG champion hard for a 10+ min match before getting hit with Santana's Spin the Block roaring lariat.

A return date for Aug 10 is announced.

New England based star "The Dime Piece" Aaron Rourke won a 7 Way Scramble over a mix of House of Glory mainstays "Sweet Cheeks" Joey Silver, "Infxmous" Darron Richardson, Rochie Roach, Smooth Blackmon and fellow New England/Northeast based stars Mortar and Ricky Smokes.
All action match. A little busy for me but they all worked hard to be entertaining.

In a title vs title match booked at "The War Within" show the previous night in New York City, "La Sombra" Carlos Ramirez defeated Legacy Pro (the HoG sister developmental company) champion "The Dark Star" Idris Jackson.  Nice match between two very promising young stars. They never tried to do too much so there weren't any bad, obvious mistakes that can happen with over-reaching young wrestlers.  Jackson tried to get a cheap win with his feet on the ropes for a cover but was caught. Moments later, he fell to Ramirez's pump handle piledriver. Ramirez is now a double champion: HoG Crown Jewel champion and Legacy Pro Heavyweight champion.

Spinning out of a tag match at "The War Within", The Ultra Violette successfully defended her Women's championship in a 4 Way match against her tag partner Diamond Virago and Mexican stars Reina Dorado and Sexy Star, the pair that defeated Violette and Virago the night before.  Good action throughout with the story of Virago working to help Violette while Dorado and Star were competing against both of them and each other.  That played out in the end with Dorado and Star were knocked down, opening the door for Virago to lay down and be pinned by Violette.  Saving grace of this modern day Fingerpoke of Doom was los luchadoras didn't take this lying down and immediately beat the hell out of both women, making them escape to the back.

"Cash Flow" Ken Broadway got the best of his former tag partner, Encore, in a Grudge match.  Considering the history, good intensity where both guys, especially the young Encore, came in like a very personal fight.  Broadway used his veteran wiles to get the win with a low blow with the ref looking the other way and then a kick to a kneeling Encore.

"The Root of All Evil" Charles Mason (w/ The Cold Blooded Killers, Jay Armani and Raheem Royal) was scheduled to face "The Death Machine" Sami Callihan but Callihan wasn't there so he made an open challenge to anyone in the locker room.   It was answered by "The Ghetto Samurai" Nolo Kitano (with his masked ninja Annunakis), which was definitely a surprise as Kitano is one of the top heels in HoG (Mason is the top heel).  Good match but it felt like the Lowell audience didn't want to cheer either guy. Mason's a charismatic type and Kitano easily fell back into a more sympathetic role but never felt like Lowell ever invested fully.
Kitano's Annunakis weren't very  helpful in blocking the interference by the Killers on the other side and that let Mason get the win.

Some post match stuff where it looked like Kitano--at the prompting and urging of Mason--might execute one of his Annunaki that brings out HoG Tag champions, The Mane Event (Jay Lyon and Midas Black)  This was...dramatic but it keeps Kitano as a heel going forward so mission: accomplished.

The Mane Event beat back a strong challenge from The Cold Blooded Killers (Armani and Royal).  This was only the second tag match for Armani and Royal in House of Glory but they click well and had the champions in a tough fight but TME put them away, looking like the more experienced team, with their Grand Finale (double team 3D/face plant) finish.

Main event time as TNA X Division champion Mustafa Ali defeated New England star "The Northeast Beast" Alec Price in a non-title bout.   Price pushed the champion, trying to win the biggest win of his career and Ali went from "cocky and over-confident" to "heated and angry" at the determination of Price.  Price looked to be going for a second cutter from the corner to the ring apron but Ali caught him and high angle German suplexed him on the apron. Roll him into the ring and hit a 450 Splash for the win. They saved the best match for last.

Ali put over Price, HoG to close the show.

A very good show on a quality weekend for House of Glory.
