AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2024-05-01 23:28:00

It is NOT Saturday and this week’s Rampage is LIVE on a Wednesday after Dynamite at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, MB.

The commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, and Matt Menard.

The show starts right where Dynamite left off, with Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada and Kenny says in a few months when he’s healed up, they have a match right in an AEW ring. Omega is attacked by Jack Perry from behind, who then goes after security with a steel chair. Okada gives Perry a snap suplex and holds his midsection. He goes for a V Trigger, but Okada grabs his foot and allows Perry to nail Omega in the midsection with the chair.

Matt and Nick Jackson come to the ring to wave them off. Omega starts to pull himself off and is in position for the EVP trigger, which they hit him with.

We then hear the music for FTR who run to the ring for the save. The Elite bail and we get the opener for Rampage as Kenny is stretchered out.

In the back, we see The Elite attack FTR and leave them laying and they then surround Omega and say it’s just business. They then just dump his stretcher and ask someone to check on him.

Jay White w/The Gunns vs Dante Martin

Martin swarms White in the corner with elbow strikes and White rolls out of the ring. Martin follows him and they brawl on the floor and Martin rolls White into the ring. White turns the tables, taking advantage of Martin coming in the ring. They run the ropes and Martin gets a tejaris and White goes to the floor again.

Dante follows and gets in a few blows before returning to the ring for a dive into White on the floor. They brawl around the ring again. White is rolled into the ring and Dante goes for a springboard off the top rope, but White sweeps the foot and Dante falls onto the top rope as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, White has Martin on the mat in a rear chinlock. Martin works to his feet and fights free with elbows. Martin gets a drop kick and both men are down. Martin gets chops, a leaping kick and a big cross body for two. Martin clotheslines White to the floor and then rolls him back into the ring. Martin is grabbed by White who gets a ura nage for two. White gets a rear chinlock again and follows by laying in chops. Martin fights out with forearms. White tries to toss Martin, who stays on the apron.

Martin is able to get the Nose Dive for two. White reverses a suplex into a suplex of his own, followed by a Blade Runner for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jay White

White helps Martin up, holds up his hand, and then hits a brain buster on Martin. Action Andretti and Darius Martin hit the ring and White takes off.

Arkady Aura is in the back and Deonna Purrazzo says her attack on Thunder Rosa made her feel like herself and now Rosa has made it personal with a Jersey Girl.  Purrazzo seems to have turned heel, which is a good move.

We then get a video package for Rush as he returned last week.

Renee Paquette is with Big Bill and he says the one thing that has been missing from his career is proper guidance and Chris Jericho is the guy who can take him to the promised land. Chris Jericho shows and he says Bill is right. They agree and Bill is now with Jericho.

We then get a promo from Swerve Strickland and he says it’s time to remind Christian Cage who he is and next week, he won’t be alone.

Kyle O’Reilly vs Rocky Romero

They lock up and get a quick series of standing switches. Rocky gets a takedown and Kyle gets free and they reset. Kyle gets an arm bar and they go back and forth. Kyle is able to take Rocky down and he kips up and misses a drop kick. They fist bump and Kyle grabs a side headlock. They run the ropes and Rocky gets a tejaris and tries for an arm bar, and Kyle turns it into an ankle lock. Rocky kicks his way free and then dives onto Kyle on the floor.

Rocky dives again and Kyle catches him and gets a cross arm breaker on the floor as we go to picture in picture. When they return to full screen, they are trading kicks. Kyle gets the boomerang clothesline out of the ropes and both men are down. As they get up, they go to the top and Rocky gets an avalanche sliced bread for two. They go back to trading kicks and Kyle is able to get a knee and a back elbow for two.

Rocky gets a pair of blows, but Kyle gets a standing arm bar and brings Kyle to the mat. Rocky reverses and Rocky is able to turn it into a pin for two. Rocky tries for the double wrist lock and Kyle goes to the mat. Kyle is able to twist while in the wristlock for the pin and the win.

Winner: Kyle O’Reilly

In the back, Arkady is with Saraya and Harley Cameron who mock Mariah May for losing tonight and Harley challenges May to a match next week.

Arkady is with the Undisputed Kingdom and they talk about how Roderick Strong would travel and wrestle and then put his neck brace back on because he is neck strong. Roddy then says Will Ospreay better pull the Tiger Driver out again because he’ll need every tool to beat him.

It's time for the main event.

Willow Nightingale (TBS Champion) vs Skye Blue in a Manitoba Massacre match

Willow goes after Blue with a trash can lid and then they brawl into the crowd almost immediately. Willow pulls the barricade topper off and slams Blue into it. Blue then leaps into a chair held by Willow and Willow covers for two. Willow pulls out chairs from under the ring and puts them in the ring. She then sets one up at ringside. Willow sets Blue in the chair and then misses a cannonball from the apron as Blue gets out of the way as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Willow hits a pounce on Blue and they return to the ring, which has a whole bunch of chairs in it. Willow charges at Blue in the corner, and Blue tosses a chair at Willow and covers for two.  Blue is busted open. Blue then grabs a back of thumb tacks from under the ring, which she dumps on the mat.

Willow puts Blue on the top and blue escapes and tosses another chair at Willow. Blue goes up with Willow and Willow gets a fisherman’s bomb into the tacks for two. Willow sets up a table at ringside. Willow returns to the ring and Blue tries for Code Blue, but instead Willow gets a body slam onto a chair. Willow goes for a moonsault from the top and Blue dodges to Willow lands on the chairs.

Blue goes under the ring and pulls out a barbed wire board and puts it on the table. They fight on the apron, and Willow hits a gut wrench slam from the apron into the board and through the table for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TBS Champion: Willow Nightingale.
