THE MOST MEMORABLE WRESTLING EVENTS IN LAS VEGAS

By Kendall Jenkins on 2024-04-18 08:27:00

“Sin City”, Las Vegas, is also called the “entertainment capital of the world”. There are so many reasons to visit Vegas. The city offers some of the best casinos in the globe, excellent shopping, plenty of entertainment options, shows, and fine dining. You can also visit the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and other places from the city.

Las Vegas is also a popular place for professional wrestling. Major promoters have selected the city again and again for some of the biggest shows. The city has seen many memorable WWE events over the years. Here are some of the most memorable WWE events held in Las Vegas based on the level of competition, prize money amount, and the overall interest and excitement of the event. They have all been amazing.

1. WrestleMania IX (1993)

WrestleMania IX goes back three decades to 1993 but to this day remains one of the most exciting wrestling events held in Vegas. It was held at Caesars Palace. It featured Lex Luger and Mr. Perfect where Lex won. However, it was The Undertaker’s day as he won his third WrestleMania in an incredible streak. This was followed by the main event.

The event saw a classic little vs. large competition as Bret Hart fought against the mighty Yokozuna to win the WWE Championship. The odds were in favor of Yokozuna. Of course, in sports, the underdog sometimes wins despite the odds favoring the likely winner. Visit this site for sporting odds, predictions, and live scores. There was no upset, however, in WrestleMania IX. It was a bad day for Hart as he lost quickly to the giant. Hulk Hogan was then forced to challenge the winner, Yokozuna. Hulkster needed only 22 seconds to beat the giant and win the belt for a fifth time. There was then a rematch later at King of the Ring, which he lost. Hulk Hogan went out of the WWE ring only to reappear in 2002.

2. No Way Out (2001)

No Way Out was held in Vegas almost 8 years after WrestleMania IX. It is one of the most memorable wrestling events as it was the conclusion of the many years of rivalry between Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin, both famous wrestlers and WWE stars. Steve Austin took his revenge on Rikishi, the car driver who had run over him earlier. He then planned to overpower Triple H.

Even before the match, they both cost each other WWE Championships. The feud was held in a Three Stages of Hell match at the During the No Way Out match in Vegas. Stone Cold Steve Austin won the first where he used his typical Stunner. The second was won by Triple H in a Street Fight. It was 1-1. In the decider, Triple H won again inside a Steel Cage.

3. Vengeance (2005)

This was also a classic battle that featured Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels.

The WWE Intercontinental Title Match featured Shelton Benjamin vs. Carlito Cool on 26th June. Carlito moved to Raw from Smackdown and defeated Shelton immediately to win the IC Championship. Benjamin then got his rematch and the opportunity to take revenge. The announcers were speculating on his chances after he had crashed in a previous match while trying to dive. Carlito was seen grinning at the prospect of beating Benjamin for a second time.

However, the grin went away quickly as Shelton Benjamin dragged Carlito to the mat with his grappling skills. It seemed that Benjamin was still hurt and wanted to finish the battle quickly. In return, Carlito tried to attack the neck and head, the areas where his opponent was supposed to be injured. But he manages to survive. It is one of the most epic battles ever.

4. No Way Out (2008)

This No Way Out event from 2008 is also famous. It was held at the Thomas & Mack Center of Las Vegas. It had two Elimination Chamber matches with the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE opportunities for WrestleMania XXIV.

John Cena, the Royal Rumble winner, was trying to win the WWE title. He took on the champion Randy Orton, winning by disqualification. Orton managed to keep the title. The event saw Edge and Rey Mysterio fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship. The Undertaker took on Edge at WrestleMania after defeating MVP, The Great Khali, Big Daddy V, Finlay, and Batista during the Elimination Chamber matches. It was The Phenom who won the World Heavyweight Championship, increasing his winning streak to 16. Triple H survived Umaga, JBL, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, and Chris Jericho.

5. Money In The Bank (2016)

Money in the Bank 2016 was the 7th Money in the Bank professional wrestling live stream and PPV event of the WWE. It was held at the T-Mobile Arena on June 19th. It was the first event at this venue. The event had 11 bouts with 2 of them on the Kickoff pre-show.

In the main event, Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns and won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. However, he lost to Dean Ambrose immediately after. Ambrose, also called The Lunatic Fringe, cashed his contract and won over the title from Rollins. To make it even worse for Rollins, he was eventually suspended by the WWE for violating the Wellness Program.

The 2016 Money in the Bank event also featured the first-ever AJ Styles vs. John Cena singles encounter.

Not just these five, Las Vegas has seen many other memorable wrestling events. Of course, there are many more wrestling bouts from elsewhere in the world that have become famous, such as the SmackDown! Vs. Raw bouts of 2004 and 2007, and in events like WrestleMania 2000. WWE stars like Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, John Cena, The Undertaker, The Rock, Ric Flair, and others have given us many memorable fights that have excited and thrilled us.
