IT TAKES MORE THAN TALENT SIGNINGS TO DRAW RATINGS, ROCK ON BROADWAY, INDUCTING HEYMAN AND MORE

Considering the flat ratings of Dynamite lately, despite their hyped new signings, would you agree that this suggests that there are very VERY few people who can actually add viewers just by their presence? To add viewers, it seems that you have to be somebody with true mainstream appeal, like The Rock.

I have said that for a while now.  The most a signing can do is pique interest in the moment but if they want to attract viewers that aren’t watching now, it comes down to the stories being told and how the characters are presented.  The hardcore fans know who Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay are and they haven’t moved the needle at all yet.  In fact, Ospreay’s match against Kyle Fletcher was the lowest rated segment of Dynamite on March 6.  Names don’t matter to the people that are not watching now.  They want good stories and characters that they can invest in emotionally.

What do you think of AEW's refusal to advertise new signings? It is bewildering that internet fans are claiming that Mercedes Mone isn't a ratings draw when she was never advertised to be on the show! Her fan base is women, girls and casual fans that know her from other pop culture like Mandelorian fans. Most of those don't overlap with AEW and internet wrestling fans. This last group knew she would be appearing, but they were already going to be watching the show. The people that could have increased the ratings had no idea she was signed to AEW because they didn't tell anyone. Advertising and hype are the backbone of traditional wrestling. Why can't they get that?

In this case I don’t think it really mattered.  WWE fans know who Sasha Banks is, they don’t know Mercedes Mone, so that name would mean nothing to them.  And honestly, her debut did a million viewers, and then people tuned out.  They telegraphed she would be back during the main event, and people still tuned out.  To me, it goes back to what I said above.

I just went to www.wwf.com and it says "Coming Soon".  Is WWE going back to WWF???!!!

No, they are not.

Hear me out on this one, OK?  The Rock on Broadway!  He’s no DeNiro but he’s pretty good and he can sign well enough to carry a Disney movie musical.  I’ve never done either but if you can move around a wrestling ring, you should be able to learn some choreography and dance moves.  He might not have it to be the Phantom of The Opera but he could pull off Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie.  Am I making things up here?  Does anyone other than me want to see this?

I think he could handle doing a Broadway show for sure.  He’s very talented.  Do I want to see it?  No, but I have only gone to one Broadway show in my life and that is only because it was Bruce Springsteen.

There is a lot of speculation about who is gonna present Paul Heyman during the Hall of Fame. Heyman is the father of extreme. Since Sunny was the first diva and was presented by the whole divas roster... what do you think about Paul Heyman being presented by several ECW wrestlers like Dreamer, Sandman, Sabu, Raven, RVD, The Dudleys.

That is one way that they could go but my hunch is that it won’t happen that way.  While ECW is a big part of Heyman’s career, it’s also well, well in his past.  I think it should be someone more aligned with who he is now, in WWE.  Plus, now that TKO owns the company, it would make more sense to use their current assets in the role.  I would love to see it be CM Punk.  That would be a great way to get him involved on WrestleMania weekend.  Heyman and Punk have a history.  Who knows, maybe that is why he will be attending Raw in Chicago, to make that announcement!
