Trish Stratus and Lita Q & A highlights from Galaxycon Columbus
They said working in live pro wrestling television was the best training for a career outside of the business because you only have one take to get it right and when they work other TV gigs, the producers are always impressed that they can get scenes filmed in very few takes compared to actors that are used to having multiple takes.
They both enjoyed working mixed tags because they were the most fun to work in their era. The different variables and possibilities made it unique at the time.
Lita's favorite promo of her career was the one she cut on Mickie James before her retirement match with her. Trish said the one she cut on Christy Hemme was one of them because they joked backstage that Playboy published Hemme as the champion on the cover of the magazine when she never was and so Trish cut a promo based on that.
The women don't really rib each other or play pranks, they said that was more on the men's side.
They were asked about each of them working with Becky Lynch this year and Lita said its crazy how far she has come from her NXT days to what she has done the last 5 years and Trish said the story they played out this year was one of her favorites she has ever been involved in and put over her cage match from extreme rules.
They talk about the dynamic between the locker room from the 00s to today and it is night and day. They did not have travel buses back then or private locker rooms. The Rock and Stone Cold dressed in the same locker room as Funaki and they hung out in catering with everyone. Today everyone is playing video games or on their phones. The politics are different as well. Back in the day the women would stab each other in the back for a spot and now they all work together and there is very little jealousy among the women.
Favorite opponents for Lita were Jazz and Victoria and Trish agreed but added Mickie as well.
They were asked if they could book 4 women from their era vs the 4 horsewomen (Charlotte, Sasha, Bayley and Becky) and they said it would be Lita, Trish, Molly Holly, Mickie James.
They were asked about whether their retirements in 2006 had anything to do with each other and Lita said they both signed their first contracts around the same time and renewed around the same time so when they came due, they both agreed that they had accomplished what they wanted to but joked trish got the better sendoff since lita was a heel at the time.
