AIW presents Hell on Earth XVIII

Cleveland’s own Absolute Intense Wrestling returns with their eighteenth edition of their Black Friday tradition.
PME (Marino Tenaglia and Philly Collins w/ Bill Alfonso) defeated To Infinity and Beyond (Colin Delaney and Cheech), Latinos Most Wanted (Koda Hernandez and Sabin Gauge), and Members Only (Calvin G. Lewis and Malcolm Cambridge). PME’s (and Bill Alfonso’s) face turn is pretty close to complete after spending the last year or so as Matt Cardona’s henchmen. Bill Alfonso decided to get in on the fun and hit a splash onto the wrestlers on the floor. Marino Tenaglia pinned Koda Sabin Gauge after a Sunset Dreams.
Josh Prohibition defeated Tyler Jordan with a little veteran trickery. This is a rematch from Fresh Meat, where the rookie, Jordan, pinned his trainer, Prohibition. Split at one win a piece, Tyler Jordan challenged Prohibition to a rubber match at the next AIW event on December 29.
Magnum CK defeated Eric Taylor (w/ The Duke, representing Cash is King). Magnum CK had threatened to “smooch Duke” in promos before the match. The Duke’s attempted interference with the Golden Boot backfired allowing CK to hit Taylor with the Golden Boot for the win.
Wes Barkley defeated Sam Holloway to retain the Intense Title. Eric Taylor and The Duke came out, arguing about the prior match. Holloway came over to confront Cash is King, and The Duke punched Holloway, allowing Barkley to get the schoolboy pin. Holloway is left in the ring, confused about what just happened.
Tre Lamar pinned Rocky Romero in a four way match that also included Josh Bishop and Tom Lawlor. For the past couple months, Bishop and Lawlor have considered themselves a tag team the past few months within multi-man matches. They entered the arena together, first to Bishop’s entrance music with Lawlor was wearing a pair of Bishop’s tights and a matching leather vest, then to Lawlor’s music with Bishop wearing Lawlor’s shirt. Just a bit of fun from the newest members of WTF in MLW. After the match, Romero said he’d be back with some back-up.
Intermission and promo central.
Mikey Montgomery pinned Kaplan after a huge DVD off the top rope in a six-person scramble, which also included Rachel Armstrong, Dex Royal, Vik, and Austin James. Rachel Armstrong was a last-minute replacement for Doc Simmons.
Money Shot (Zack Nystrom and Elijah Dean w/ The Duke) defeated TME (Ganon Jones and Duke Davis) to retain the AIW Tag Team Championship. The Duke pulled the ref out. Nystrom grabbed his cowbell and connected with Jones before Money Shot hit Davis with the spike piledriver for the pin.
Kenta pinned Dom Garrini after a Go to Sleep. Garrini was on a quest to wrestle the best in the world when they came to AIW over the past year. Garrini had one of his students, Shaw Mason, accompany him in that young-boy/second role.
Isaiah Broner defeated Derek Dillinger (w/ Katie Arquette, representing The Production) to retain the AIW Absolute Championship. Ziggy Haim, the former member of The Production who Dillinger attacked JLIT weekend effectively kicking her out of AIW, returned and caused a scene through the crowd and attacked Arquette at ringside. The one bummer of this match was the cameras focused on Arquette and Haim and almost missed the pin.
Arquette threw Haim into the ring for Dillinger. Haim gave Dillinger the bird. When Dillinger grabbed Haim, Magnum CK, a former member of The Production before his hiatus, came to the ring to assist Haim (which I would say was teased during JLIT weekend with a show of respect before CK and Haim). The current Production and the former Production members brawled to the back.
After the match, as Broner caught his breath, Eric Taylor and The Duke of Cash is King came out and attacked Broner, since Eric Taylor has a title shot cash-in after winning this year’s JT Lightning Invitational Tournament. Sam Holloway came to fight them off, which brought out Money Shot, which brought out PME. Wes Barkley was out next: but what side is he on? Barkley punched Taylor and The Duke, and the brawl continued, causing Cash is King to head to the floor. Barkley took a mic and challenged Cash is King to find another member to take on himself, Broner, Holloway, and PME in a 5 on 5, anything goes, falls count anywhere match on December 29.
Notes: Dustin Alberty and AIW President Matt Wadsworth were on commentary. Charles Van, Porter O’Shea, Tom Dunn, and Jake Clemons were the referee crew. A very welcome change of pace with this event: there was no blood. There has been a lot of gratuitous blood in the past few AIW events, which might have gotten them in trouble with another venue. AIW returns with Terror at the Temple at Temple Live on December 29.
