RETIRED WWE STAR GABBI TUFT OPENS UP ABOUT HER DIVORCE, WHY HER DAUGHTER CALLS HER “DAD” AND RETURNING TO WWE SMACKDOWN FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A TRANSGENDER WOMAN ON TODAY’S “TAMRON HALL”
After Surviving a Tragic Accident in 2016, Hannah Gavios Discusses Completing Her Fourth NYC Marathon Using Crutches
On Monday’s edition of “Tamron Hall,” retired WWE star Gabbi Tuft returned to the show to discuss her new coffee table book, “Vibe Check."
After coming out as transgender in 2021, Gabbi opened up about her impending divorce from wife Priscilla and co-parenting their daughter, Mia and explained why Mia still refers to Gabbi as “Dad.” Gabbi also detailed her recent return to Madison Square Garden for the WWE Smackdown for the first time as a transgender woman. Later, the inspiring Hannah Gavios joined the show to celebrate her fourth completion of the New York City Marathon after suffering an attack in 2016 that caused a spinal cord injury.
Gabbi Tuft on her divorce and why her daughter still calls her “Dad”:
On her divorce from wife Priscilla, “We’re in the process of divorcing but we’re the best of friends.” On her daughter Mia and why she calls her “Dad,” “She turned 12 a couple of days ago. She asked early on, she said, ‘What do I call you?’ ‘You can call me Dad, you can call me Mom, you can call me whatever you want,’ and she said ‘Can I call you Dad?’ ‘Of course you can.’ So when we’re out in public and I’m shopping in a grocery store or something and she’s down the aisle and she’s like ‘Hey Dad!’ Everybody kind of turns and is like ‘Wait what?’ But it doesn’t bother me because it makes her feel comfortable and that’s all that matters.”
Tuft on returning to Madison Square Garden for the WWE Smackdown for the first time as a transgender woman:
“It was incredible. I didn’t realize how much I missed being in an arena and to see the lights and, I mean, 15,000 people in Madison Square Garden, packed house and I was on the floor and to hear the sounds of the ring and seeing my friends that I was in the WWE with before, now leading the show. They’re the big superstars. And just to see them ten feet in front of me, it was just an overwhelming feeling of joy and gratefulness.”
