Returning to Texas for the first time since a successful debut this past summer, The Wrestling REVOLVER teamed with the Dallas/Ft Worth based Metroplex Wrestling (MPX) for Tales From The Ring 6, live from The Epic on FITE+.
Walker Stewart (great voice) and Cody Cox worked commentary and I think they were better than the normal REVOLVER team.
Alan Angels beat Dante Leon in the opener. No beef or history. Just two wrestlers working hard to win a match and a good one to start the show.
Vert Vixen successfully defended her DEFY Women's title against Killa Kate (more famously known as "BK Rhythm" in WOW). Solid match as it went along. Some awkward exchanges but not a bad encounter. I'd like to see them again down the road.
In a tag team bout and a battle of former MPX tag champs, Purple Haze (Stevie Hendrix and Prince Alexander) got a win over the Children of the Scorned (brother team of Gabe Wilder and Tommy Prince with their sister Hilda). Fun tag match that allowed both teams to show their skills while telling a basic tag team story with Hendrix taking a lot of punishment from CotS, who had a very competitive match against then Impact Wrestling World tag champs the ABC back in the summer. Cox probably had too much fun with the "Who wants to get scorn-y?" tagline for the Children. Purple Haze hit Tommy Prince with a double team Flatliner for the win.
The 3 Way Lucha match scheduled between Rey Fenix, Laredo Kid and Rich Swann is changed to just Kid vs Swann as Fenix was injured recently in AEW. Very good back and forth match with Swann, a former Impact Wrestling World and X Division champion, picking up the win with a 450 splash from the middle rope.
In a match on the entire other end of the spectrum, Steve Maclin, co holder of the REVOLVER tag team titles, wins a violent 3 Way match over "The World Breaker" Brick Savage and AEW star "MurderHawk" Lance Archer (Archer was added later so they still delivered a promised 3 Way) that went all over the building. My first time seeing Savage and he's impressive.
Savage takes out Archer with a hard powerbomb but when he went for Maclin, Maclin counters and takes him out with a DDT on a steel chair for the win. REVOLVER loves their wild, plunder filled brawls. This was one of the better ones in recent months.
First match after the intermission (needed to clean the ring of the rubble of the previous match) was an 8 man no disqualification Sudden Death Scramble match with a mix of MPX and REVOLVER stars. Exodus Prime picked up the victory over Tatum Manning, Damien Chambers, Barrett Brown, Izzy James, The Pledge, Tommy Becker and MPX champion Kari Jai Wright after driving Manning through a propped up wooden door in the corner with a Death Valley Driver. Entertaining enough but felt like a series of moves and not a "fight." Prime gets the mic after, noting this win and a win over Rich Swann back in the summer and challenged any REVOLVER champ to put up their title against him the next time they come to the DFW. Good promo.
The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) defeated Brent Oakley and KC Jacobs of Alpha Sigma Sigma (along with The Pledge). The Rascalz' Impact Wrestling World tag titles were not at stake. Nice match. Alpha Sigma Sigma are some solid prospects and worked hard to match the Rascalz, who were showing their own veteran chops in guiding the youngsters. A few rough spots but that should have been expected. Oakley and Jacobs did have some very good moments but could not hang with the champs with Miguel pinning Oakley after they hit their patented Hot Fire Flame finisher. Solid bout.
"The Inevitable" Ace Austin of Bullet Club got a tough win over "Flawless" JD Griffey in a quality semi main event. Smart match with Austin relying on his speed and athleticism and Griffey using his legitimate mixed martial skills to keep Austin on the backfoot. I thought this was a strong match. Austin survived a tight rear naked choke and was able to escape and finish Griffey with The Fold neckbreaker for the win.
In the Texas Casket Match main event (I guess they have different caskets in Texas), "The Monster Hunter" Matthew Palmer defeated Abadon in a hard hitting finale. Before the match, the referee, ring announcer and several attendants said their "goodbyes" to Palmer. That was funny. There was a healthy dose of shenanigans to start but it got serious and violent quickly. Huge spot where Palmer attempted a big splash off a platform over the entrance onto Abadon with the "Living Dead Girl" moving and Palmer going through the two doors he had them piled on top. Palmer was finally able to get Abadon into a casket and closing the lid after hammering skewers into Abadon's skull. Insane.
Now line PCO and Max the Impaler for Palmer.
Fitting main event for an October show.
Not only did I think this was a good show, I think it was better than the previous couple of REVOLVER shows where they go a little far with the excess and it becomes redundant.
