I know this scenario will NEVER happen, but what would you think if CM Punk shocked the world and won the 2024 Royal Rumble and was the one to end Roman Reigns world title run at WM40 - instead of Cody Rhodes?
I would not be shocked to see Punk return to WWE at The Rumble, and I hope he does. With that said, I think having him come in and win it would not be the best way to go. I would have him come in and get into it with someone who then becomes his WrestleMania opponent. If they did have him win it, they could have him challenge for the World Title and keep the Cody story intact.
Do you know how songs are licensed? Is it a per use deal or unlimited use over a set amount of time? If the latter, do you think Tony would prevent Punk from using the song should he go somewhere else?
It depends on the situation. Sometimes it’s done for a night, sometimes it’s done for every match. I would guess, and it’s just a guess, that Punk could get the rights to it if he wanted to use it elsewhere.
When Endeavor takes over WWE will it be their call on talent hiring and releases or will WWE have the flexibility to do as they see fit?
This is fitting question since today Endeavor takes over WWE. At the end of the day, once in control Endeavor can hire and fire whoever they want. But, Ari Emmanuel has said he would let Vince McMahon run WWE so unless something drastic happens, I see that being the case.
Is one of AEW’s problems the fact that Tony Khan doesn’t have to make money? I can’t see a business owner trying to make money running a business this way.
I would agree with that statement 100 percent. I am not saying that Tony isn’t trying to make money but as we all know, houses are down across the board and I think it’s due to the booking. Even if Tony doesn’t think that, he hasn’t identified why some fans are losing interest in the company. If he was force to make a profit, he would be doing all he could to fix that issue.
Also, how can non-biased wrestling fans see the problems in AEW, and the owner, “discipline committee” and lawyers/investigators can’t?
I can think of a two reasons. First and foremost, Tony Khan thinks the product is great, and it’s exactly what he wants it to be, so he won’t change anything. He thinks he is booking great shows. To a lesser degree, he is still getting all of the validation that he needs from biased reporters so rather than listen to what the fair people are saying, he listens to the people who tell him what he wants to hear.
