SMACKDOWN GETTING NEW TALENT, GUNTHER MAKES HISTORY, OWENS, PIPER AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2023-09-04 23:12:00

As of tonight, GUNTHER is now the longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time, eclipsing The Honkytonk Man's 455 day championship reign, which ended in August 1988.

During tonight's edition of Monday Night Raw, it was stated by Adam Pearce that Smackdown would receive "trade compensation" (i.e. talent) for Jey Uso coming to Raw, even though the storyline was Uso "quit" WWE.  So, we will see who ends up on the blue brand.  It should be noted that of late Odyssey Jones, who was called up to Raw and never appeared beyond a battle royal, has been working dark matches on Smackdown tapings of late.

While it was stated Kevin Owens was not at Raw, he was backstage and late in the day, he was slated to wrestle JD McDonagh, so there was obviously a change in plans.

It was stated during Raw that WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Piper Niven was not currently cleared to perform.

We are told that Adam Pearce was listed as the Producer for The Miz promo on Raw.

Taped for this Thursday's WWE Main Event was Akira Tozawa vs. Bronson Reed and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Riddick Moss.  That episode will air on Hulu.
