THERE WILL BE CHANGES TO ALL IN: LONDON CARD: TONY KHAN MEDIA CALL HIGHLIGHTS

By Mike Johnson on 2023-08-22 12:58:00

AEW President Tony Khan is taking part in a media call to promote this week's AEW events, culminating with Sunday's All In: London.

*On FTR vs. Young Bucks, it's two of the best teams of all time.  He greatly praised them.  London was the perfect place for the rubber match.

*Regarding Cash Wheeler, he can't comment on the specifics as he still doesn't know everything but given the information they have at this time, they are keeping an eye on the situation as it's an "inconclusive situation."  It's different from other times they have acted on situations due to evidence.  They don't have all the facts right now.  As long as it's a pending situation, they will keep an eye on it.  As to when he learned about the incident, Khan said he didn't know for a long time but he had been trying to gather all the facts and information.  He doesn't want to comment much on it as they are gathering information.

*They have a current live gate of $10 million for Wembley.  It will be the largest crowd for pro wrestling in Europe for wrestling.  He said it's going to be a historic day.  They have 80,000 tickets distributed for All In.

*There will be All In video footage used in the package and he's been very cognizant of the original show and connections from it to this show and he hopes to take everything from that show to this one to the next level.

*Khan feels MJF-Adam Cole is one of the best pieces of storytelling in AEW history.  He loves working with them and their stuff is going so well, it's been a blessing for the company and the PPV.  He knocks on wood that remains.

*When asked if they would release a ticket audit of the All In: London sales, Khan said he hasn't been in this position before but will do his best to have a thorough accounting and to announce an accurate number for the media as soon as possible.  Wherever it falls, it's going to fall as one of the most successful events ever and is a very important milestone for AEW.

*There are more possibilities for additional international events.

*A good portion of the AEW Production team will not be at TV in Georgia as they will already be in London loading in and setting up at Wembley.  He said he expects they will all learn from this experience.

*On the Elite's EVP responsibilities, he said Kenny Omega and The Jacksons were very involved with ideas and building the major events.  There are a lot of wrestlers who help backstage but don't carry the Executive title.

*On whether anything new will be added to London, Khan said there will be "adjustments" to the card - some were planned from the beginning, some are things they are dealing with.  Rarely do things get put on paper and there are no major changes.  He wishes that everything happened in a vacuum and the best ideas on paper got to happen as planned.  Sometimes there are injuries and you could blame the company for that - sometimes there are fluke things because you put people in the ring.  There have been a lot of things that caused changes for this show, but he's thankful it's not Adam Cole and MJF with those issues.  He brought up losing Adam Cole twice last summer and then Punk and Bryan at the same time last summer.

*There haven't been that many injuries all at once again but there have been people hurt, such as Bryan Danielson, who was going to be strongly spotlighted.    He wanted PAC and Jamie Hayter heavily involved at this show, but injuries to them changed a lot of plans.

*Khan said there are going to be changes to the card, not changes he wanted to make but things that have been necessitated by the "real world" not related to professional wrestling.  He is working this week to make the card stronger than it had been.  There will be some things added and some changes.  He said they are things he didn't think a week or two would have to be done and he said he can probably discuss them after the show on the scrum, so to stay tuned.  They had a lot of storytelling with Adam Cole vs. MJF match.

*On the success of the show and AEW, Khan said his father is very proud.  It's all happening because of his father.  He's the reason Tony was able to launch it and to build the relationships with Wembley Stadium.  He said his father is the most savvy businessman Tony knows.  They were together last night talking about it.  His father was never a wrestling fan, but it speaks to what a great dad he was in that he took his son to so many shows and did it for Tony.

*On Sting, he wants him to stay as long as Sting feels physically up to doing it.  He praised Sting and Darby Allin's relationship on screen as well as off.  He won't be the one to pull the plug on Sting's career.  As long as Sting feels can go and wants to be there, he will be.  It needs to be Sting's call to decide when he wants to finish up.

*On Saraya, she's a great part of AEW.  All In: London is the biggest moment of her AEW run.   Her career is the stuff of legend.  They are excited to have her family as part of the event.  He touted the Women's title bout.

*On how WBD views AEW, Khan said he believes they are seen as a live sporting event.  He said he and his father visited with David Zaslav during the holidays and the first thing Zaslav said that Tony was "killing it!"

*On the lengths of the new deals for the Elite, Khan said he would have to check paperwork, but their deals don't all start and end the same day.  They all signed "multi-year" deals and has great respect for them.  He is filming something with Kenny Omega today and feels they have really bonded a lot lately.    He is really excited that they are all going to be here for years to come.

*Khan strongly hinted there will be more in the UK in the future coming out of Wembley Stadium.

*Khan said this will be the most memorable night in the history of the company and he thanked everyone who attends the show over covers it.  The show is the embodiment of a dream for him.  He thanks all the great wrestlers in AEW who make this weekend possible.
