By Mike Johnson on 2023-07-26 09:32:00

Former WCW star Marcus Bagwell was arrested on 7/13 in Cobb County, GA, PWInsider.com has confirmed.  Bagwell was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (Misdemeanor) and Speeding (Misdemeanor) that day at 1:30 PM on 7/13.  Bagwell was released from incarceration by the Cobb County Sherriff's Department on 7/15 at 1:31 PM Eastern.

PWInsider.com is working on confirming additional information regarding the incident, but this this is the latest arrest in recent years for the former WCW star.

In May 2021, Bagwell was arrested at 1:25 PM at the intersection of Bells Ferry Road and Santa Fe Trail.  Police records indicate that Bagwell was driving his 2007 Saab and struck another drive's 2006 Acura from behind at the interaction of Shallowford Road and Bull Run at 12:32 PM EST.  Bagwell left the scene and continued driving on.  The driver he struck followed him for two miles until Bagwell finally came to a stop.  When the police arrived at 12:46, Bagwell "advised to he was unable to stop because his vehicle was having battery issues."  He was subsequently arrested and charged with:

-Hit and Run; Duty of Driver to Stop at or Return to the Scene of Accident.
-Giving False Name, Address or Birthdate to a Law Enforcement Officer.
-Following Too Closely.
-License to be carried and exhibited on demand.
-Open container violation.

It was discovered by the responding officers in that incident that Bagwell also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out stemming from an August 2020 crash, which saw him charged with:

-Hit and Run; Duty of Driver to Stop at or Return to the Scene of Accident.
-Giving False Name, Address or Birthdate to a Law Enforcement Officer.
-Following Too Closely.
-License to be carried and exhibited on demand.
-Open container violation.

In that incident, Bagwell, 50, was hospitalized on Sunday 8/16/20 with what at the time were described as "serious injuries" by the Cobb County Police in Georgia following a traffic collision on Cumberland Parkway at 5:18 PM EST.   According to an announcement released on 8/18/20 by authorities seeking witnesses, Bagwell was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe while driving West on Cumberland Boulevard towards Cumberland Parkway in Cobb County.  The announcement states that Bagwell lost control as he followed a curve in the road, striking the center median and a metal fence inside the median, before driving towards oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the road.  The car then hit the curb before colliding a "free-standing bathroom" next to a bus station.  Bagwell was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA with serious injuries. The announcement at the time noted, "Investigators believe Bagwell was impaired by prescription medication during the collision."

Bagwell had a long run with WCW from the early 1990s through the demise of the promotion in 2001.  He performed for WWE very briefly in 2001.  In 2012, Bagwell was hospitalized with broken bones in his jaw, neck and face after flipping his jeep in Georgia when going into a seizure while driving.  WWE Hall of Famer DDP announced that Marcus Bagwell, who has been living with Page in Atlanta while working to overcome his personal issues, had suffered a relapse and would be entering rehab back in August 2022.  Bagwell has not wrestled since, with his last match believed to have been at a January 2022 event promoted by WrestlePro Alaska.
