Given that there’s nothing international about the AEW International Championship, but that it’s defended weekly on television, shouldn’t TK re-rename it the AEW Television Championship, in the spirit and purpose of other historic TV titles?
I would have no issue with that.
Can you do a column without mentioning Tony Khan or Dave Meltzer?
I can't if people like you keep asking me about them.
Today you answered a question about the WWE Puerto Rico shows and other cities that could host events. It made me think about Hawaii. I believe there's been some house shows over the years but has there ever been a TV Taping or PPV there? I didn't realize the history the state had with wrestling until watching Young Rock, and I would think it would be awesome to see Summerslam or Wrestlemania held in Aloha Stadium. They could play into the Bloodline story, and maybe even entice The Rock to be part of it.
They could, for sure, but the issue is logistics. For one thing, they are six hours behind the Eastern Time Zone. If a show starts at 7 in Hawaii, it's 1 a.m. in the east and 10 p.m. in the west. That isn't doable. To have the show air at 7 p.m. in the east, it has to start at 1 p.m. in Hawaii. Also there is the location and population. The whole state has less than 1.5M people from the last census data I saw. That isn’t a lot to draw from. Also, it’s a hike to get to the state. It’s about six hours by plane from the west coast and about double that from NY. It could be done but it wouldn’t be optimal.
I haven't been in the ECW/2300 Arena since 1995, and clearly it's not the dump that it was then. Have you been back to the area? How much work has been put into it? Is it safe to touch anything in it, now?
It's night and day. It's way nicer than it was back then, and I am not damning it with feint praise either. I saw an ROH show there a few years back and had a great time. Roger has done a great job with the building.
The Endeavor purchase of WWE validates the company at $9.7 billion- the equivalent of the combined cost of the last two pro sports franchises to sell, the Denver Broncos at $4.65 billion and the phoenix suns at $4.1 billion. Both closed within the last year. If given the option, as an investor, for a moment ignoring the issues of buying two franchises in one year, which do you think would be more lucrative: owning WWE, or having ownership both the Broncos and the Suns?
I would have to look at all of the financials before I could comment but I get your point, it does seem than it would be preferable to own an NBA and NFL team over WWE and UFC.
