It is Friday and AEW Rampage was recorded after AEW Dynamite is at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Our commentary team is Excalbur, Jim Ross, Chris Jericho and Tony Schiavone.
The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn vs Rush, Preston Vance, and Dralistico
Anthony Bowens starts with Dralistico and they chop each other to the corner and trade chops back and forth. They run the ropes and Dralistico gets a hurricanrana. Bowens answers with an over the top famouser. Vance and Caster are tagged in, they run the ropes until Caster takes Vance down with an arm drag. Vance follows with a fallaway slam.
Gunn is tagged in and he and Vance trade “suck it” chops. Vance tries for a cross body and Gunn catches him and hits a fallaway slam. Gunn tags in Bowens and Rush’s team hits the ring and everyone starts fighting outside the ring. Bowens is rolled back into the ring and Rush’s team work him over as we go picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, everyone is fighting outside the ring. In the ring, Dralistico tags in and works over Caster in his corner. Caster and Dralistico hit a double clothesline and both men struggle for a tag. Gann is tagged in and Vance is also tagged in, and Gunn cleans house. Gunn hits the famouser, and covers as Jose the assistant puts Vance’s foot on the rope. Jose is tossed into the ring, and takes a Scissor Me Timbers.,
Vance hits a discus lariat on Gunn, and Caster breaks it up at two. Rush works over Gunn in the corner, but Bowens takes him out with strikes. Dralistico hits a lung blower on Bowens, but Bowens recovers and hits The Arrival on Dralistico, followed by Caster with the Mic Drop for the pin and the win.
Winners: The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn
Bowens says they have been running through the Trio division for weeks, and they should gamble on winning the Trio Championship.
The Gunns (Colton and Austin Gunn) and Ethan Page vs The Already In The Ring and Getting No Introduction Frescomatic & Watson & Jeaux Braxton.
How do we know this match doesn’t matter much? Jim Ross and Jericho talk about Jericho’s upcoming match and Excalibur talks about the feud the Gunn and Page have with the Hardys.
Winners: The Gunns and Ethan Page
After the match, Page says he hopes the Hardy Boys were watching because they showed what a real Trio can do, and on Sunday, we;’ll never find out what their team can do, since they took out Isaiah for good.
The Hardys’ music hits and Matt and Jeff come out on the stage with mics. Isaiah says the doctor did not clear him, but he found a replacement, and Hook comes out.
They come to the ring and the Gunns and Page bail.
In the back, Lexi is with Keith Lee and Dustin Rhodes. She says that Swerve Strickland and Brian Cage will be in the battle royal. Dustin says that they are coming for them. Lee says he can’t wait.
Marina Shafir and Nyla Rose vs Hikaru Shida and Britt Baker
Rose and Shida start off and Rose slams Shida’s head into the top turnbuckle in Rose’s corner. Roise tags in Shafir and they try to double clothesline Shida, who instead shoves them into a neutral corner and nails both of them with a knee strike. Shida suplexes Shafir into Rose and Baker is tagged in. Baker hits a series of forearm strikes and a sling blade for two.
Baker hits a suplex on Shafir and Shafir is able to get in a pair of strikes and tosses her into her own corner so that6 Rose can choke Baker as we go to picture in picture.
When we return from picture in picture, Baker dodges a splash from Rose and tags in Shida, who goes toe to toe with Shafir with strikes. Shida gets the better of the exchange and then gets ten blows in the corner on the turnbuckle. Shida hits a missile drop kick for two. Baker is tagged in and hits a swinging neck breaker, and Rose throws Shida onto Baker to break up the pin. Rose sets up the guillotine knee on the top rope against Baker, but Shida pulls Baker out of the way.
Rose charges, and Shida and Baker pull down the top rope so she goes to the floor and Shida hits a Meteora. Baker pulls out the Dentist’s glove and Shida gets a series of blows with a rip cord elbow for two. Baker puts Shafir in a hold so Shida can kick her, allowing Baker to get the Lockjaw and the win.
Winners: Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida
In the back, Jamie Hayter has been attacked and is left laying by the Outcasts.
It’s Time for the Main Event
Lee Moriarty and Big Bill vs The Best Friends
Lee and Chuck Taylor start off the match with arm bars. Lee breaks free with an arm drag, and Trent Baretta is tagged in. They trade waistlocks, and when Trent gets in a kick after offering a handshake, Lee grabs his foot and rakes Trent’s eyes. When they run the ropes, Chuck gets a cheap kick into Lee’s back, and Lee gives Chuck a right hand that knocks him off the apron.
Trent is able to chop Lee down and tags in Chuck, and they charge into Lee in the corner. They hit a delayed vertical suplex on Lee, and Bill comes in with clotheslines. Both of the Best Friends are tossed to the floor and we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Chuck tags in Trent, who gets a series of suplexes on Lee. Lee rolls to the floor and Trent tries to dive at him, but is caught by Bill, who slams him on the ring apron, which, as we all know, is the hardest part of the ring. Trent is rolled back in the ring, and Bill tags in. We see everyone in the Blackjack Battle Royal watching on, which is the most clumsy foreshadowing in a long time.
Misses a leap into the corner, and the Best Friends hit the soul foot half and half suplex. The Best Friends set up for Strong Zero, but Lee knocks Chuck off the top. Trent gets out of the power slam from Bill, only to come off the ropes into a spinning side slam from Bill. Bill and Lee hit a two man slam and Chuck breaks up the cover at two.
Bill is tagged in and goes to the top. Trent escapes Lee’s grasp and whips him into the turnbuckle, and subsequently, Bill’s nether regions. Best Friends hit a double avalanche suplex and Trent gets a two count. Chuck tags in and Lee attacks Chuck. Chuck hits a pile driver on Lee. Bill hits a clothesline and a chokeslam on Chuck for the pin and the win.
Winners: Lee Moriarty and Big Bill
After the match, the participants at the battle royal are fighting at ringside and Orange Cassidy comes to the ring to help the Best Friends. The people who have issues all beeline for each other and we’re desperately out of time.
