30th ANNIVERSARY OF VERY FIRST SHOW AT 2300 ARENA YESTERDAY

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the very first professional wrestling event held at what would eventually become one of the most famous venues ever for pro wrestling, the ECW Arena, now known as the 230 Arena.

On May 14th, 1993, Eastern Championship Wrestling as it was then known, held their first-ever TV taping on the corners of Swanton and Ritner Streets, featuring the following results:

1993 - The very first show ever held at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania took place.  It was the first of two consecutive days of television tapings and saw the following results:
- Road Warrior Hawk beat The Samoan Warrior & Donn E. Allen in a handicap match when he pinned both.
- Tommy Cairo won a battle royal to become the first ECW Pennsylvania Champion.
- ECW Tag Team Champions Chris Candido & Johnny Hotbody beat Tommy Cairo & Glen Osbourne when Osbourne was pinned.
- ECW Champion Don Muraco beat Mr. Sandman via countout.
- Road Warrior Hawk beat ECW TV Champion Jimmy Snuka via DQ.
- ECW Tag Team Champions Chris Candido & Johnny Hotbody vs. The Super Destroyers ended in a double DQ.
- Eddie Gilbert beat Herve Renesto in a chain match.
- Terry Funk beat The Dark Patriot via DQ.
- ECW Champion Don Muraco pinned Tommy Cairo.
- The Dark Patriot beat JT Smith via countout.
- Mr. Sandman & Larry Winters beat Tony Stetson & Rockin' Rebel when Sandman pinned Rebel.
- Sal Bellomo & The Super Destroyers vs. Richard Michaels, Chris Candido, & Johnny Hotbody ended in a no-contest as a huge brawl broke out.

The venue still regularly hosts professional wrestling events, including MLW and Battleground Championship Wrestling, as well as MMA, Boxing and other cultural events.
