AEW TO DEBUT AT WEMBLEY STADIUM FOR ALL IN: LONDON

By Mike Johnson on 2023-04-05 21:26:00

The big AEW Tony Khan announcement tonight was that the promotion will be running London's Wembley Stadium in Great Britain on 8/27 for All In.

Given Wembley's massive size, this will be the biggest crowd in AEW history should they fill it, easily surpassing AEW Grand Slam in NYC.

It will also be the promotion's debut in the UK, where Dynamite airs on ITV, the British equivalent of an NBC or ABC.

“This is something I’ve dreamed of for years,” Khan told Sports Illustrated earlier this morning. “It’s a huge milestone for AEW, and I can’t wait to talk about it. There will be fans around the world who will be excited—it is one of the most important announcements ever in AEW."

WWE famously ran the 1992 SummerSlam, headlined by Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith at Wembley Stadium.  AEW's debut would be the first professional wrestling event in the world famous venue since then.  Several years back, the Khan family looked into purchasing the Stadium but in the end, did not move forward with the acquisition.

Wembley Stadium has a capacity for 90,000 fans and is the second largest stadium in all of Europe.  There is no word whether AEW intends to scale down the capacity of the venue, nor what their creative plans for the event will be.

Obviously, this show will be televised in some manner.
