MLW FUSION REPORT

Your announcers are Joe Dombrowski and Matt Striker.

Cesar Duran makes his way to the stage.

Cesar says he is always ahead of the curve.  He says he is the Max Verstappen of this sport and the Tom Brady of Lucha Libre.  He asks if he has to say he is the Bryce Harper of wrestling.  He says he has a gift for all of you.  He says he just signed the nastiest and most violent fighter in Mexico.  He has beaten the s*** out of every luchador in AAA.  He is a main eventer in Arena Mexico.  Cesar says if MLW wants to use this man, they will have to pay him a lot of money.  Tonight, he says he will give you a glimpse of this champion.

Cesar introduces Sam Adonis.

Match Number One:  Sam Adonis versus Johnny Trash

They lock up and Adonis with a snap mare and a rollup for a near fall.  They lock up and Adonis with a side head lock and Johnny with a reversal.  Johnny with a shoulder tackle and Sam stays on his feet.  Johnny with a sunset flip but Sam rolls through and gets a jackknife cover.  Johnny goes for a back slide but Adonis blocks it and connects with a knee.  Adonis goes to the ropes and walks the top rope and hits a blockbuster.  Johnny with punches and forearms.  Sam with a short arm clothesline and hits a second one.

Sam with the Orange Blossom Thunder Driver for the three count.

Winner:  Sam Adonis

We go to Cesar Duran and Sam Adonis with Sam Leterna.  Leterna asks Adonis about why he decided to sign with Cesar Duran.

Duran yells at Leterna.

Adonis says not to worry.  He says he is has spent five years of his life in Mexico City beating every luchador in front of him.  He does not have a mask and he does not flip around like an idiot.  He says he beats people up.  He says it does not matter why he is with Cesar Duran.  Questions are a burden for others, but answers are a prison for yourself.

We have a video for EJ Nduka and Alex Hammerstone.  They will meet on February 7th.

We are back with a video for Lio Rush, who is coming back to MLW soon.

It is time to BOMAYE with Alex Kane.  He says 2023 is going to be a big year for him.  He is going to take the Bulldogs behind the shed and put them out of their misery.  They are going to rebrand the Opera Cup.  Then he is going to win the Opera Cup, win Battle Riot and eliminate everyone.  He will end the year with his foot on Hammerstone’s chest holding up the title. 

Alex throws out a handful of BOMAYEs.

We go to the parking lot with Davey Boy Smith Jr., Thomas Billington and Mark Billington.

Davey is asked about Alex Kane and the Opera Cup and how he wants to rename it the Oprah Cup.

Davey laughs and he says Alex can call it whatever he wants but talk is cheap.  As far as you damaging that Cup, it is a different story.  You are damaging and hurting his pride and his family’s legacy.  When you step in the ring, there will be serious payback for what you did.  You can talk all your crap and think you are funny, but it is a matter of time before you step in the ring with him and he will hurt Kane.

We go to footage from Dragon Gate for a match between Yamato versus Shun Skywalker from August 1, 2021.

Match Number Two:  Yamato versus Shun Skywalker for the Open the Dream Gate Title

They lock up and Shun with a wrist lock.  Yamato with a reversal.  Shun with a side head lock.  Shun with a shoulder tackle and Yamato comes off the ropes and connects with a shoulder tackle.  Shun with a back breaker but Yamato gets to his feet.  Shun with an Irish whip and Yamato kicks Shun off the turnbuckles to the apron.  Yamato drop kicks Shun off the apron.  Yamato takes Shun up the ramp.  Yamato sets for a brainbuster on the ramp but Shun blocks it.  Shun with a brainbuster of his own onto the ramp.  Yamato rolls toward the ring as Shun backs up.  Shun is caught by Yamato and Yamato with an exploder on the ramp.  Yamato sends Shun into the apron and they both get onto the apron.  Yamato sets for a suplex on the apron but Shun blocks it.  Shun with a boot to the head and Shun goes for a Tiger Driver but Yamato blocks it.  Shun with a double underhook Falcon Arrow on the apron.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Shun with a Yakuza kick followed by a slam and standing moonsault for a near fall.  Yamato with a forearm and Shun fires back and sends Yamato to the mat.  Yamato with a forearm and Shun fires back.  They continue the exchange.  Yamato with a drop kick to the knee followed by a dragon screw leg whip.  Yamato falls into the corner and he hits a running drop kick into the corner.  Yamato with an Irish whip and a running drop kick to the back of the head.  Yamato goes up top and hits a missile drop kick for a near fall.

Shun blocks a suplex attempt.  Shun lands on his feet but Yamato with an elbow.  Shun with an elbow and a back heel kick followed by a DDT.  Yamato blocks a blaster attempt.  Shun goes for an O’Connor roll but Yamato holds on to the ropes.  Yamato with a sleeper to counter a blaster from Shun.  Shun gets to the ropes and climbs to the top with Yamato on his back.  Shun falls back to the mat to get out of the hold.

Shun with a series of moonsault knee drops to Yamato.  Shun goes up top and hits a moonsault for a near fall.  Shun with forearms to Yamato and a bicycle kick against the ropes.  Yamato with a bicycle kick and a tombstone for a near fall.  Yamato gets Shun up but Shun with a tombstone of his own.  Shun gets to his feet first.  Both with bicycle kicks and forearms.  Yamato with an enzuigiri and Shun falls to the mat.  Shun with a shoulder tackle  Shun catches Yamato on a rana attempt and he hits a sit out power bomb for a near fall.

Shun gets Yamato up but Yamato with a sleeper.  Shun tries to get to the ropes but Yamato with a sleepr suplex.  Yamato with a German suplex.  Shun with a power bomb.  Yamato gets a near fall and then he returns to the sleeper.  Yamato gets Shun up but Shun with SSW for a near fall.  They both head butt each other from their hands and knees.  Yamato with forearms and Shun with head butts.  Shun and Yamato exchange forearms.  Shun with a clothesline.  Shun and Yamato with clotheslines at the same time until Yamato takes Shun down with a clothesline.  Yamato with a sit out tombstone for a near fall.  Yamato with Ragnarok for the three count.

Winner:  Yamato (new champion)

We go to Richard Holliday with an update.

He says he wanted to speak candidly to you.  He says he knows not everyone is on social media.  He says he wanted to explain why he has not been on TV.  He was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2022.  He says it was a shock to him.  You think you are invincible when you are an athlete.  He says it is not the news you get that defines you as a person, it is how you react.  Holliday says he has been in the gym five or six days a week.  He says doctors are amazed at how he has gone through chemotherapy.  He says he is doing better every day. 

Holliday says he does not know when he will be able to get back into the ring.  He says he loves wrestling and it is his passion.  He misses everyone.  This is not a goodbye or see you later.  This is a see you soon.

When you are breathing rarefied air, you fight.

We go to commercial.

Micro Man is in the balcony and Cesar Duran has Sam Adonis dump the contents of a trash can onto Micro Man,

Lince Dorado shows up and wants to know what is going on.  He gets Micro Man and they leave.

We see footage from last week’s match between Ben-K and Jacob Fatu.

We go to comments from Jacob Fatu with Juicy Finau and Lance Anoa’i.

Jacob says he took care of Ben-K and Willie Mack recently.

Juicy mentions that him and Lance are undefeated.

Jacob points out he is a former MLW World Champion.

Lance says it doesn’t matter who gets it first because they are going to be dripping in gold.

EJ Nduka faces Alex Hammerstone on the MLW Underground debut on February 7th.  We are told that Real1 is going to shoot on that show.

Match Number Three:  Taya Valkyrie (with Cesar Duran) versus Trish Adora for the MLW Featherweight Championship

They lock up and Trish with a wrist lock.  Taya with a single leg take down.  Taya works on the legs and applies a front face lock.  Trish with an escape and hammer lock.  Trish does some push ups on Taya and gets a near fall.  They go to a Greco Roman knuckle lock and Trish with a rollup for a near fall.  Trish with a hip toss and Taya goes to the floor to regroup.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Taya sends Trish into the turnbuckles but misses a splash.  Trish with splashes into the corner and a running hip into the corner.  Trish gets a near fall.  Taya with punches and a double leg take down and Taya with forearms to the back.  Taya stretches Trish and hits a curb stomp for a near fall.  Taya tries to pull Trish up and Trish with an arm wringer and Irish whip.  Trish with a splash into the corner and follows with another Irish whip and splash.  Trish with a German suplex but misses a bicycle kick.  Taya with a back heel kick and another kick and clothesline for a near fall.  Taya sets for Road to Valhalla but Trish blocks it and connects with a forearm and a uranage back breaker.

Trish with a suplex and a bridge for a near fall.  Taya with a head butt but Trish with a forearm.  Trish with more forearms and Taya fires back.  They go back and forth.  Taya grabs the referee and Cesar trips Trish.  Trish with an elbow and then she catches Taya on a cross body.  Cesar trips Trish and Taya gets the three count.

Winner:  Taya Valkyrie (retains championship)

We go to credits.
