Young Rock “Going Heavy” - S3 E8
Dwayne & Randall meet in the morning. Randall was up all night afraid he would miss some more late night talks with the Prime Minister. Dwayne says he was able to schedule a meeting about the coffee trade deal. Prime Minister Honig comes in the room and tells Dwayne she has to postpone their meeting. There is a protest. Parliament voted to change the name of “Cannibal Mountain” (where an unfortunate soccer team ate each other like in “Alive”) to a joke name the people voted for that she won’t accept. Dwayne said he struggled with his relationship with the public when he first became famous.
WWF 1998 - they re-enact the episode of RAW where The Rock give Rolexes to D’Lo Brown & Mark Henry but gives Faarooq a signed poster of The Rock.
We just introduced to the locker room in a montage The Undertaker, Stone Cold, Triple H, Chyna and “Chad Frost”. The Prime Minster is confused saying she’s never heard of a Chad Frost. Dwayne says he was the biggest star next to Stone Cold but he’ll get to that later.
The Rock decides to not go out with the wrestlers and drive to the next town on his own so he can talk with his family while traveling.
The Rock says this was the time when WWF introduced writers into the process for the first time. We meet Brian Gewirtz (Clark Duke) who is pitching a storyline to Chyna about adding conflict between her & HHH. Chyna says “no, our bond is something that can never be shaken”. Brian, The Rock & Triple H go over their segment but HHH isn’t cooperating. Brian suggests Rock make fun of HHH’s speech pattern-uh. We see the promo in ring where The Rock says he sounds constipated. After the match we see Pat scolds him for going over his time and HHH is upset he only got himself over and not the match.
Dwayne & Ron Simmons are at lunch and he doesn’t understand why HHH was so upset. Ron tells him the locker room is a tough place and people will always be upset being knocked down a peg and to watch out for people trying to sabotage his career.
Back in the locker room Brian and Rock continue to bond. Vince & Chad Fox come in and announce Fox is out with a knee injury and everyone will have to step up. Dwayne wishes him well. He tells Brian he feels bad for him because he’s a good guy. Brian tells Dwayne this is the time for The Rock to get to the top.
We get a montage of The Rock getting over with his catchphrases (with a generous time jumps as we see The Rock Concert from 2003). Vince scolds Rock on going over time again then pitches HHH vs The Rock at SummerSlam. Vince says he’s been hearing things about his ego getting out of control. Dwayne decides to confront who is doing the gossip to Vince. He confronts HHH at a bar, HHH denies it. Later Dwayne tells Brian about and Brian let’s him know it wasn’t HHH but Chad Fox getting into Vince’s ear.
We get a voice over from the Prime Minister saying she’s still trying to figure out who Fox is and Dwayne says “that guy never turned out to be a friend and he’ll leave it at that”.
Dwayne tells Brian he’s hurt by Fox because he thought he was a good guy and friend. He then calls home and Rocky & Lia tell him they warned him about the vipers in the locker room. Rocky tells Dwayne to have a great match talk it over with HHH to earn his trust back.
We see the SummerSlam ladder match for the IC title. Dwayne’s voice over says he was going to do everything he could to earn Hunter’s trust. We see The Rock is busted open, HHH asks what the angle. Dwayne tells him no angle just trying to help the match. They get the go home cue and they ignore it. (Marty Elias plays himself). They do a few more spots getting the crowd into it even more and finally finish the match. He lays in the ring to give HHH his time to celebrate and realizes the crowd gained sympathy for him and is cheering for The Rock.
Backstage Pat scolds him about time. Vince on the other hand thought the match was awesome. He and Vince realize it’s time for him to turn babyface.
PM Honig and Dwayne have a talk, she says she’s not going to go with her gut and not let the people choose a crazy name for the mountain.
