To a person, everyone we've spoken to in WWE, whether it be a talent or an employee have remarked how insane the last 24 hours have been. While many have acknowledged they knew this could always have happened, it's remarkable how many seemed to be either be in denial or unaware that it actually COULD happen.
Lightshed Media, in their latest podcast, theorized that William Morris Endeavor (WME), who own UFC, could be a potential suitor to buy WWE, but would only undertake that purchase if Vince McMahon was involved in the company.
There are also a lot of people theorizing that Comcast, which owns NBC Universal, would be the most likely candidate to buy the company outright given their long standing relationship.
To answer a few questions, there has been no sign of Vince McMahon in Memphis ahead of tonight's Smackdown taping. There were rumors among employees earlier today he was at Titan Tower, but we haven't been able to substantiate that. Of course, there's been rumors he's been seen at the Titan Tower gym for months, but no one would ever confirm that as legitimate as well. [Update: 12:45 PM We are told McMahon is NOT at WWE HQ today.]
The resignation of former WWE Board of Directors member Manjit Singh has been described to PWInsider as the "least shocking move" of the day as Singh, a former Sony Exec, was said to have been very "by the books" and by all indications, strongly reacted to all the McMahon accusations that came out in the summer of 2022, pushing for the company to do their due dilligence and investigate.
Jeffrey R. Speed, who was removed from the Board, was also part of the investigation.
JoEllen Lyons Dillon, who was also removed today, joined the Board after the investigation and was not part of that process.
The employee meeting at 3:30 is for company employees. Talents have not been asked to take part.
