2022 will go down in history as one of the most exciting years in professional wrestling. And it has resulted in a ton of excellent wrestling. We evaluate its main characters today and peek at some of the wrestlers who will make headlines in 2023. For this list, form is essential. No matter how good they are or what different fighting styles they use, wrestlers who don't consistently produce the goods aren’t even considered. So, let’s kick this list off with a beast of a wrestler!

Brock Lesnar – WWE

Amazingly, Brock Lesnar has dominated the wrestling industry for 20 years, dominating the industry and reigning supreme until now in 2022. No matter how you feel about him, The Beast Incarnate has been the center of attention for WWE in 2022. Since joining WWE again, Lesnar has undergone a complete transformation, and it is such a breath of fresh air to see him operate independently and have a personality. He has been the most anticipated element of WWE TV all year, though it also speaks to how few stars the company has been able to produce in this time.

Roman Reigns – WWE

Roman Reigns has excelled since becoming heel and winning the Universal Championship again. It should not be a surprise that he is still one of WWE's most prominent features today due to this. The Tribal Chief has held the title for a while, and in mid-January, he surpassed a critical milestone by becoming the champion who has kept it the longest overall.

Bobby Lashley – WWE

The 46-year-old, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 273 pounds of muscle, possesses the skills to destroy any adversary who stands in his way. Bobby Lashley returned to the organization in 2018 after a protracted absence and looked better than ever. The current two-time world champion is focused on winning a third global championship.

CM Punk – AEW

How do you even begin with CM Punk? A very divisive character in the sport, whose chilly split from the WWE put him in charge of the AEW promotion—which, shockingly, hasn't exactly been going smoothly. He recently made news once more, but this time for all the wrong reasons, when he launched into a hysterical diatribe against the bosses and his AEW coworkers. He still makes the list despite all the recent controversies.

Kazuchika Okada – NJPW

Everyone knows that Okada is one of the best wrestlers of this age, and some even consider him among the greatest wrestlers ever. This is a legitimate perspective, given that Okada is a true wonder in the ring. Okada had 26 singles matches from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022, and had a 22-4 record. He held the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship for 159 days after winning it from Shingo Takagi and defending it against Tetsuya Naito, Will Ospreay, and Zack Sabre Jr.

Jon Moxley – AEW

After winning the first-ever AEW World Championship Unification Match versus CM Punk, Jon Moxley is now the first to hold the title twice, making 2022 the year of Moxley. Moxley has felt incredibly renewed since his early-year return from rehab, consistently delivering fantastic performances regardless of the opposition. Highlights from Moxley's 2022 include his matches against Chris Jericho, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Konosuke Takeshita in a non-title match. Even though All Elite Wrestling is home to some of the finest in the world, this year has shown that Jon Moxley is the undisputed kingmaker within the organization.

Sami Zayn – WWE

It will be challenging to find anything bad to say about Zayn in 2022. Zayn has done wonders in the last 11 months, going from WWE Intercontinental Champion to Honorary Uce. Along the way, his supporters have continued showing up in large numbers. Every night, some of the loudest reactions to everything he does, his hot tags, and other Bloodline-related events occur, and it doesn't appear that this momentum will slow down any time soon. Although Zayn was previously acknowledged as a superb professional wrestler, his achievements this year merit even higher praise.
