OFF AIR NOTES FROM DYNAMITE, INCLUDING CROWD SIZE, MJF HEAT, REACTIONS TO THE ELITE AND MORE

By Adam Tabb on 2022-12-01 09:43:00

The crowd (I've seen WrestleTix estimate at 3600) was much less than last time in the building.  The floor was sold out, but the bottom level was less than half full, and the top was probably a quarter full.

They brought only 6 shirts to sell, which was much less than last time.  Two were AEW shirts.  The only wrestlers they were selling were The Acclaimed, FTR, The Elite Chicago Shirt, and a Mox shirt.  Of that group, it appeared that most people were buying the Acclaimed, and a lot of the signs (and scissors) were showing support for the Acclaimed.

Dark had a bunch of enhancement matches with local people that wrestle in the area.  The Highlights...

The Embassy won a 6 man against a team that featured Dan the Dad from the Independent Scene who got a surprisingly big reaction by the ringside fans.  Dalton Castle and Boys confronted them I assume setting up a PPV match for the ROH 6 Man titles.

Kip Sabian beat Alex Reynolds

Takeshita beat Aaron Solo in the main event.

Right Before Dynamite went live, MJF cut a local promo where he burned a Hoosiers, Butler, and Pacers jersey and ran down Indiana.

There were several match ups that were between two people the crowd liked, and so there was a lot of cheering everyone but there was almost no heat.

That all changed when MJF and Regal came out, he was pretty clearly booed, especially after the angle (until he left then there were some cheers)

The Elite Vs Death Triangle match had very muted reactions when everyone came out, and most of the match.  The Elite had a very mixed reaction of cheers and boos with a lot of people seeming apathetic to them, and Death Triangle had no reaction at all.  So if it comes off any different on TV, they've sweetened it.  There were no CM Punk Chants, or really Elite Chants, just a lot of people watching.  Sequences of the match got the crowd to react, but that finish where they'd kicked out of 47 big moves and won on a roll up left the crowd very flat.

Darby Allen (w Sting) beat Cole Carter (w/ Nick Camoroto)

The Acclaimed (rap featured a shot at Glen Jacobs)  did an Interview w/ Rene in the Ring where they challenged the best tag team in the world.  The Gunn Club answered, only to be interrupted by Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal, but the Acclaimed ran them down until FTR came out and they went face to face with a hand shake at the end.

Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal beat Private Party

Athena did one of her really stiff squashes on a local talent and really acted like a heel after the match.

Orange Cassidy defeated QT Marshall in a Lumberjack Match for the Mid Atlantic Title.  Notable Lumberjacks that appeared were the former Kevin Thorn, and Sypder Nate Webb.

Not sure if it is making TV, but after the match lights went out and House of Black Appeared and killed everyone.

Biggest Reactions

The Acclaimed were far and away the biggest stars of the show. Nothing was real close.

The Hangman Return got a big reaction.

Danielson and FTR (especially the Rampage appearance) were big as well, nothing else really compared.

Biggest Heat

MJF and nothing else on the show was even close to that level of booing.
