LONG PPVS ARE ROUGH, BOOKING MATTERS, KEEPING IT REAL AND MORE

I love that you are one of the few people that offer honest criticism of AEW.  Do you worry that it may come with repercussions from the company?

First off, all people that purport themselves to be impartial should be honest.  When I criticize AEW I state WHY I am making the criticism and back my position with facts to support my opinion.  We are not paid to be fan boys, we are paid to be as impartial as possible.  That’s our job.  As for repercussions, no I don’t concern myself with that.  If I did, I would be compromising my credibility.

Why does AEW feel the need to do super long PPVs?  By the time we get to the main event, I am burned out by the show.

I guess Tony Khan wants to give fans as much as he can for their money, which is admirable in one respect for sure.  With that said, yes by the time we get into hour five plus, I am with you, it’s hard to stay excited.  When I am at my home out west, it’s easier because it starts at 4 p.m.  When I am at my place in the east, it’s tougher for sure.  I said the same thing when Vince McMahon was running megashows too.

I’m in the camp who definitely would love to see AEW succeed. I came back to wrestling in 2018 after falling off in 2001 during high school and I was happy to find something to jump into from the beginning. While I’ve got the same old gripes about overall booking, the thing that drives me the most insane is the lack of extended build to events. Tony is booking a lot of matches that I would definitely be interested in seeing, but he’s not solidifying the cards until 2-3 weeks out. I thought the Page/Jericho match at the first All Out had a lot of legs because we knew the match a couple months in advance. Even MJF/Moxley was fine having been on the road since MJF returned. But there was a legitimate chance to make Saraya/Britt a huge angle that set up a ton of questions to be answered when it finally got in the ring (even if Saraya appears and acts like the lobotomized husk of Paige) and instead it came with s*** heat over just 2 weeks instead of a few months. Do you think Tony just doesn’t think that “smart fans” want to see anything but the match? Is it just the same story that someone who can write for TV needs to finesse the angles? I seriously think that this is a primary problem for them and it’s wearing on me.

I think Tony absolutely has the mindset that his fan base cares about the matches and the moves more than anything.  The Trios Tournament is the perfect representative of this.  He thinks it’s cool, so he thinks his hardcore fans will too.  Beyond that, he isn’t a good booker.  He is really bad at trying to tell stories and when he follows his insincts, like having Punk get destroyed right before his match with Mox, it shows he has no idea what he is doing.

How drunk/high do death match wrestlers get before their matches?

I have no idea why anyone would do that to their body so I have no idea how they would prepare to do it.

Has any member of the legitimate media ever asked a member the WWE brass about running shows in Saudi Arabia and their human rights disasters?

Maybe, I can’t say.  I don’t follow all of the legitimate media.  They do business in Saudi Arabia because it pays them well.  They aren’t the only US company that does so, not by a long shot.  I don’t like it either, but it’s not illegal, it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Isn’t hiring Jeff Jarrett a win/win situation for TK? If the show improves, then Tony will get all the credit for hiring Jeff, and if it gets worse, well, he’ll just blame Jarrett for the problems and fire him!

I don’t see that as a win win.  If Jarrett does a great job, it’s a win.  If he doesn’t, Tony made a bad hire so that’s a loss to me.
