WHAT MAKES PUNK TICK, A SHIRT I WOULD BUY, BREAKING HOGAN’S RECORD AND MORE

I’m assuming that 2.0 from NXT is gone?  If so then thank goodness it was ridiculous.

It is and I agree.  It never should have been there in the first place.

I want to give a character analysis of CM Punk.  Obviously you’re not him.  But I can’t ask him if I’m right on the money about him, so I’ll bounce it off you and ask your thoughts.  There’s a misconception about Punk’s ego, that he wants to be on top and make everything about him.  It couldn’t be further from the truth.  He seems like a guy who wants the ball to prove he can score.  He wants the chance for everything to be on his back so he can succeed or fail.  He wanted the same chance from WWE that they gave the Ultimate Warrior.  Vince put everything on Warrior while Hogan was still around, Warrior failed so Vince went back to Hogan.  Punk didn’t get that same chance when Cena was around and it stuck in his craw.  I’d give more examples but this “question” is getting too long.  But I’ll end by saying, I’ve come to this conclusion because anytime I hear Punk bragging, it’s about drawing million dollar houses or selling out the United Center.  He wins the AEW title at Double or Nothing and brags about the first million dollar gate in his victory speech.  CM Punk wants the top spot to prove he can draw and deliver at that level.  Your thoughts?

I think almost every wrestler wants the chance to show they can be the guy/girl.  With Punk, I think he has a strong sense of how to do things the right way and when they aren’t done the right way, it gets under his skin.  In WWE, he was the champ, but never pushed as the top guy.  That doesn’t make sense.  In AEW, well we know about backstage there.  So while he does have a prickly personality, I think if things are done correctly you get the happy version of Punk.  He gets ticked off because he cares.

When the third party investigation is all said and done, should CM Punk release a T-Shirt to make money from his “I’m hurt, I’m old, I’m tired, and I work with Children” line?

I don’t know that Tony Khan can laugh at himself like that but if he could, that would be hilarious.  If not, when Punk is done with AEW he should sell it on ProWrestlingTees.com.  I would buy it.

Are 3-5 year contracts too long for wrestlers?  I understand WWE/AEW keeping the top guys around for that long.  But for newcomers and people in the midcard, would it be a better idea if they were signed for a year?  If they start getting over, contracts could be renewed with options for a longer stay.  If they don’t, they’re not stuck in some mid card purgatory for years doing nothing because “creative has nothing for them.”

It all depends on what’s out there.  If the best (or only) offer is a three year deal, you have to take that.  It all depends on the circumstances.

Do you wanna see Roman Reigns break Hulk Hogan’s 4 year title record?  He’s halfway there already.

I don’t want him to just to do it.  If no natural opponent comes along that cries out Roman put him over, then I have no issue with it.  But it’s not like I care one way or the other.
